The reason we kept moving is because of the need for a clean indoor pool and personal preferences, not necessarily because there was anything horribly wrong with the rooms. Take a look at all my reviews of Gatlinburg to get an idea of our experiences with these particular accomodations.** SERVICE: Never talked to the folks at the front desk since my hubby handled the room rental, so I really don't have a say either way. There was a man at the desk who would occasionally stare (but it felt like a glare?) at our comings and goings. Apparently the owner(s) live on the top floor. ROOMS: We were located on the third floor. The rooms themselves are unassuming, sparsely decorated, worn around the edges and strictly utilitarian; you won't find any particular decor theme or details that stand out. That said, the first thing I noticed walking into the room was the "clean" smell. It honestly smelled like the carpet had just been cleaned and the room thoroughly sanitized. Perhaps it was just some room deoderizer they spritzed around, but I like to think that because we were there in the off-season and mid-week to boot, they put extra effort into their cleaning. Either way, I was impressed. Having the plastic patio chairs on the balcony was nice; our room faced east so we were able to get some morning sun (I personally love morning sunlight pouring into a room). LOCATION: The motel is located on a side street from the main Parkway, so it's a super short walk to all the tourist shops and restaurants. Right across the street is the Gatlinburg Conference Center (convenient for us because my hubby and his crew was doing video work at the conference center). Great little mexican restaurant next door if you're in the mood for a little food south of the border. VALUE: Good value for what you get. No indoor pool if that's important to you. We go in October leaf looking and when the craft show is going on at the convention center. I walk and can come and go as I please. My husband like to go but not to stay as long as I do so he goes back to the room and watches tv and rests. There is lot of parking in well lite areas, the people are a lot like us, just leaf looking, enjoying the beauty of nature, we will sit on the balony at night and talk to so many. Roaring fork is located on the same road. So many restaurant, and never have to crank the car expect to go to Cades cove and up the hill to Raring forks nature trail.
