A great place to stay - loved the pool and perks

Embassy Suites' rooms are great to escape the "side by side double beds" that families are usually subjected to with kids. We got a king room and the kids slept on the pull out sofa, we both had our own tv. Our room had a side view of the ocean and sunset which was a nice extra.

We had never been to an Embassy Suites before and, although this one was a few miles from the Aquarium, I think it was the best choice for us in the area- based on the fact that, at the very least, the kids really wanted to swim. The pool is great (a tad cold), and spa but the beautiful concrete tiling was slippery. It looked like a great gym as glass separated the two areas. Nice facilities there.

We particularly enjoyed the evening drinks and snacks! The kids ran a bit and there was a game room (pool table, a few overpriced video games) adjacent. We hit Chili's (in the same lot as the hotel) and that was fun. The kids loved the macaroni & cheese.

The next morning, the breakfast was nice. I noticed some trouble with not enough coffee cups and a few of the plates were not spotless. We noticed a few people getting food to take up to the room. Later checkout was nice (12).

From there, we got on Hwy. 1 and went to Pacific Grove -Asilomar Beach. It was easy to find if you follow Asilomar signs then left on Sunset and follow it. A great dog friendly beach, tidepools if you go at low tide. It's easy to spend a few hours there. We wandered Pacific Grove a bit until finding the Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary- a pretty cool place that was a few miles over - A few stray monarchs were about. Until it was pointed out, it was hard to see the hundreds with their wings closed (looking more brown) up high clustered in a tree to the right of the entrance to the "trail."

Indoor pool, all rooms are suites so

Indoor pool, all rooms are suites so two rooms and two TVs, clean. The front desk called with a routine question and woke me at 6:56AM - not cool.“This hotel is great overall. My kids and I both loved it - it is another consistently good experience at the Embassy Suites. The rooms are clean, the hotel feels safe, they have an indoor pool for comfortable swimming year round and the heated pool is very warm. All rooms are suites so if you have kids it is perfect they have two TVs so adults and kids won't argue over programming, they have a 24 hour cartoon channel and a refrigerator in the room. They offer free breakfast with real food (eggs, omlettes, hot foods, fruits, etc.) and also have a game room with two pool tables and a few arcade games. The waterfall area has Koi fish and turtles. The staff is very friendly.”

The happy hour, the cook to order breakfast, the great location.“It is located right at the edge of Monterey, away from the noise. It was just minutes away to the beautiful Coastal Line & Tranquil residential of Pacific Grove (Which was so lovely). The bar tender pour generously, if one ask for it.”

We were here for one night. The hotel although nice appeared to be dated. We didn't linger in the AM because of an earth quake but the room was comfortable and the staff friendly.

The font desk head conceirge was condecending. I felt like he was doing me a favor by selling me a room. The door man and roomservice folks were great.Roomservice food was way too salty and they forgot items that we had ordered. I missed the usual sink in the bedroom. The beds were comfortable. I was traveling with 2 children. This is a good place to bring the family. Not a good place to eat.

When I first checked in the front

When I first checked in the front desk/head concierge person was rude and condescending. I identified myself as a travel agent and showed him my credentials and I was treated like a second class citizen. After we checked into the hotel I needed to go back to the car. As I passed the concierge desk the same person who grudgingly checked us in was sitting with his feet crossed up on the desk. The front of the suite is noisy. Our room service dinner was not delivered as ordered and the food was too salty. Don't order the soup it was spoiled.

This is one of the best hotel

This is one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. The amenities make it extremely convenient and enjoyable. Can't beat the complimentary beverages in the evening, and the complimentary fabulous breakfast buffet in the morning. Also enjoyed a swim in the indoor pool/spa with the kids. Service was also exceptional. I would highly recommend for families. 5 stars!

I had booked the wrong date, and the staff helped me change it with no extra charge.Had to pay for internet.“The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was nice with a decent view. Happy hour was pleasant, although some "low carb" choices in the snacks would be nice (i.e., cheese, meat).”
