There was nothing.Where do I Start.“Hotel was very hard to find with very little signs for direction or to spot it as a tourist. Beds were not clean, poor water pressure for showering. Fridge in room did not work, front desk was not very helpful, no drinking glasses or ice bucket, I can go on and on.”

Great location to walk to all city

Great location to walk to all city sites.Too noisy at night with young people partying, dated dcor.“Too noisy for middle age couple. The hotel was full and we could not change room, so we stayed in the colder room one night. Everything was working well in the second room. However, the bigger issue is the noise at night. This is party central in Montreal and a lot of young people stay there for the Weekend, so expect to hear doors clapping and people talking loud in the hallway and in adjacent rooms from 1 am till 4 am. This happened both nights on both floors. This was definitely a poor choice for my wife and I (middle age folks) who were looking for some rest after busy days visiting this great city.”

This place was very sparce, and there was no cheap parking nearby. The staff wasn't the friendliest either. This is just a place to rest your head at night. Be ready for a climb up the hill to get there though.

Terrible service, stay away

I'll sum it up before going into detail:
- receptionist was away for a long time (sleeping, literally)
- was billed for more nights than we stayed for
- support people are very rude and refer you to a manager that likely doesn't exist

We booked two nights with the Econo Lodge in Montreal Downtown for two nights. Initially arriving, we did not find the receptionist. After waiting for about 10 minutes, and ringing the service bell numerous times, we finally decide to locate him, only to find him in a room behind the counter, sleeping in his bed! We had no choice but to wake him up, only to be greeted with a feeling of annoyance that we disturbed his nap. We had changed our reservation to only one night a few days prior with enough notice, and with broken English the reservation change was confirmed. We attempting to confirm the change to one night, the receptionist gave a somewhat annoyed look and said 'yes, I understand, two nights, it says on the screen'. We corrected him a second time, saying yes, that was the original arrangement, but we wanted it reduced to one day. There was a silent acknowledgement. We stayed one night, the room was fairly clean, slightly below par for motels of this type, but the hallways were not a pretty sight and had a strange smell (not of cleaning products). After checking out, we received the receipt confirming one night stay. Checking my statement a few days later, we were still charged for 2 nights! I called the hotel, only to hear that the person I'm speaking to could not resolve such matters (it was a simple billing issue) and to wait for the manager who would be coming back in a week. I contacted Choice Hotels (who is the parent body of the Econo Lodge) and they suggested contacting the hotel for billing issues. What a nightmare. I replied to them explaining the reason I was contacting them in the first place, only to find that the request is not forwarded to their customer services dept. and can expect a response in 7-10 days.

I would strongly advice staying away from this Econo Lodge, the service was terrible, and the support serves no purpose. For a small request of fixing a billing error on their part, there is quite a number of hoops you need to jump through. Be warned, if your original reservation changes, there is a good chance you may have to go through the same thing, especially with the sub-par staff.

Nothing.Rooms, staff, location,

Nothing.Rooms, staff, location, cleanliness, customer service, star level, quality, service.“Upon walking into the hotel, the two men at the reception didnt have a clue as to what language I was speaking. After bringing forth my finch speaking skills, I manage to tell them that I had a reservation and they were in shock, indicating they had no reservation service and no rooms, after about 30 minutes of bantering at he desk they managed to find my name and reservation and realized it was paid already. No elevator service (out of order) so we had to climb up urine scented stairwell. Rooms were disgusting and no nothing the website indicated would have such as iron board, coffee maker, hotel and city information, wireless.”

Comfortable bed.Minimal dcor.“If you just want a place to crash that's centrally located while you're in Montreal, you could consider the economic lodge. A B&B would offer the same economy and would feel more like you were actually on a vacation, however.”

Don't let the bed bugs bite. Seriously.

Take the other guys advise and do not ever stay in this hole, it was seriously the worst hotel I've ever had the misfortune of staying in.

Upon arriving we checked in and went to our rooms. The first thing we noticed was it was NOT cleaned after the last people checked out. Both of the beds in our double were not made up, there was used napkins on the floor as well as dirty socks.

So ok this was a very bad first impression. So I head downstairs and asked the guy at the desk if this hotel had any housekeeping, all I got was some weird looks. I then asked him for some clean sheets and blankets and pillows, he returned with a few sheets and some towels. Ok so i guess we don't get blankets or pillows.

Now after dealing with this we figured it couldn't get to much worse, but it sure did.

Now we had a total of 6 people with us, so we got 2 double rooms. Our friends didn't arrive till a few hours later and when they did they seemed to have lucked out and got a room that was actually cleaned up. Lucky them they thought... till they woke up in the morning and noticed BED BUGS may have been feeding on them. I say may since there was blood on both beds sheets, but figuring how dirty this hotel is that may have already been there.

Now this was just to much. We informed the front desk, and they're response to this was "You brought them from outside" I don't think they apologized at all. The only thing they did was refund the money for the 2nd night for the room that had the bugs. If everyone wanted to leave that grimey hotel we would not be refunded for the room that we didn't see bugs in (though they were probably there to). They would not give any type of refund for the first night, not even a partial.

So whatever you do, no matter how budget your trying to make your trip, it is not worth it to stay in this hotel. The homeless shelters are probably cleaner then this hotel was.
