Econolodge, Morehead City, NC - 3410 Bridges St.

My husband made us reservations at the Econolodge in Morehead City, NC last week. When we arrived at the room it smelled musty but tolerable. It was relatively clean. The people staying on the floor below us had parked their trailer next to the hotel and had run a cord to their room and had plugged up a generator. It ran throughout the night. It was difficult to sleep to say the least. The next morning when we tried to shower - we had no hot water - not even warm! When I called the front desk - another problem - the phone had a short in the cord and I had to hold it a certain way to even be able to talk. The front desk said they had had no complaints about the water (it was around 6:30 a.m.) but would try to get hold of their maintenance man. They also said they would fix the phone cord. They did not apologize or offer any help at all. My husband called and asked if the entire hotel was on the same hot water heater? They replied no - so he asked them if we could shower in another room. They agreed and we had to troop down the hall to another room to clean up. That evening when we returned to the room the water was fixed - but not the phone. A hour later - it was about 8:30 p.m., the front desk called and said they had had a complaint from the room below ours that our children were running across the floor and it was bothering them. We only had our 5 year old grandchild with us and he was playing with his trucks on the floor - not running and shouting or making any undue noise. The guy who called said he was sure it was due to their thin floors but that the people were complaining. I told him that if anyone should be complaining it should be us - a generator running all night; no hot water; a phone you couldn't talk on, etc. I was fed up. I also told him that we were on vacation and our grandchild should be able to move about the room if he so desired. If there was a problem - why didn't they move the people under us? The hotel was mostly empty (I understand why).

I will never stay at an Econolodge again. It really is true that you get what you pay for. If you pay for a dump -that's what you will get.

ALL IN ALL THIS IS THE BEST VALUE IN MOREHEAD CITY. THE ROOMS ARE NOT THE NICEST BUT THE STAFF MADE UP FOR THAT WITH THEIR KNOWLDEGE OF THE AREA.THE WAY GEORGE WENT OUT OF HIS WAY TO MAKE US HAPPY (HE BOOKED ROOMS FOR US AT OUR NEXT TWO STOPS)AND BASICALLY GUIDED US THROUGH OUR STAY HERE. THE MANAGER WAS VERY PLEASANT AT CHECK-IN (I WAS IMPRSSED THAT SHE WAS EVEN THERE THAT LATE IN THE EVENING) AND SHOULD BE CONGRATULATED ON HOW WELL SHE HAS TRAINED HER STAFF TO MAKE UP FOR WHAT IS REALLY A ONE STAR HOTEL.

I've a stayed at better

Day of stay: 03-10-08 :The rooms were dirty, and they smelled. The paint was flaking off of the walls, and the carpet was badly stained. I did enjoy the help from the man working the late shift. He directed me to a really good breakfast. All in all the place was cheap, you get what you paid for. I would probably stay again, if they could only fix the rooms.

Not worth the money

I stayed here due to a business trip. I haven't been here in a couple of years, but stayed at the Econo Lodge then. I had a very positive experience. This time however I couldn't have had a worse time. The rooms were dirty, they smelled, and there was no hot water. The only bright spot of the whole trip was the nice young man who worked third shift. He did all he could to get me into a suitable room. He finally did. If you do get stuck into staying at this hotel ask for the night auditor, I beleive his name was Shawn.

Kyle made all the difference

Well it was an average hotel, fair priced for the area, but most of all the front desk manager Kyle was the most professional desk clerk we have ever seen. All the other employes were average at their jobs. He was dressed for success, he was super polite, and he knew how to handle every situation with speed and effeciency. We strongly suggest that you ask for Kyle when you do business with this place.

Disgusting not worth the money

There was nothing to like about this place. The first room we were given smelled and the curtain was hanging off except for one hook. The next room we were given was a little better but the bottom of the tub was stained. The reception area didn't answer the phone when we called. The so called breakfast was coffee and greasy stick to the roof donuts. So I would say think twice about staying there.

The room was very clean stocked with everything I even got the chance to take a nice hot bath. I enjoyed the breakfast which was nice. The hotel was close to all the stores so you didn't have to drive far to get to them.
