Holes in the carpet and walls, balls of hair on the floor, broken plumbing fixtures.... It was filthy. Also, there were two drunks about ready to have a fight outside the lobby when we arrived. It was like a rundown apartment complex. I felt unsafe there, but it was late and we withstood it, and it was painful. I did contact ESA and they did give us a free night elsewhere after we returned home. They were apologetic and friendly. We entered the room with the air conditioner blasting (45 degrees outside). Come to find out the reason for this was to disguise the cat urine smell in the rugs. The carpet in the bedroom was actually wet. No shower curtain, no phone, no TV, dresser mirror on the floor, filthy room, bedroom door would not shut. Someone pulled a fire alarm in the middle of the night..no fun. I wanted to pay my bill off in cash and called the front desk to ask, and it sounded like the housekeeper(who barely spoke English) answered the phone..her answer to everything was "It's OK" The other inhabitants were mostly hard working guys on tech jobs at oil rigs or wherever..lots of empty 24-pack beer cartons most mornings. Did i mention they were painting? Boulder highway is in East Jesus. Staff is on top of things here. Rooms are good sized, clean, and comfortable and there is a kitchen.
