Personally, I feel feel the newer Grand Californian and Paradise Pier Hotels provide more splash for the cash. As a travel consultant for cre8adventures.com, I've visited the DLH several times.

This is the most special place to visit...Disnayland. When you stay at the Disneyland Hotel it makes the visit so much more exciting. The staff is very helpful, from the front desk to the housekeeping!
It is so very convenient, we didn't have to drive our car for the entire visit.
While it is expensive to eat, there are many places to choose from at the park and the hotel.

We only stayed one night but got right into our room at 10 am and it was gross didnt like it at all I will only stay at the Grand from now on. The grounds were cool at the disney hotel and the lost bar was great, we for sure had to stop there on the way to the room and have a couple of drinks before we could face our room to sleep. It is close to the monorail so that was great and so close to espn zone which has the best burgers and drinks. I dont mind the valet 17$ charge well worth it for them to park your car and take your luggage. But we just loved the Grand Californian so much better.

On first impressions I would rate the quaility of room 2.5 star hotel. It was no better than a room at a Marriott Courtyard. The Disney decor brought the room up to 3 stars. Check-in was great. We drove all-night from Northern Nevada. The fronk desk person put us immediately into a room at 8:30 am. So I could get some shut-eye while the rest of the family spent time in the park.Everyone should have character dining experience on their trip to Disneyland, but only once. We ate at Goofy's Kitchen for brunch. At $35 per person, you are paying half for the food and the other half for a little one-on-one time with characters and Disney experience. The food was good so I have no complaints.Proximity to the park was a bit disappointing (not enough to prevent an excellent rating). The Good Neighbor Hotels on the east side of the resort (Harbor Blvd) were closer to the theme park entrances than we were. You could take the monorail into Tomorrowland from Downtown Disney which is about one city block from the hotel, but you'll have to take a brisk walk to if you want to get to California Adventure.

Nice Disney Hotel

Stayed at the Disneyland Hotel for 8 nights. Clean basic room. Big vanity area was nice. Kids loved the pool. Hard to get a chair or lounge in the middle of the day. Food was good at Crocs Bits and Bites. Pleasant stay, no issues. If you plan on walking to the parks through Downtown Disney its about a 5-10 minute walk. If you are going to Disneyland use the monorail station in Downtown Disney.

A group of us always come to the Disneyland Hotel for competitions. While there, we always stop at Crocs Bits n Bites for a quick lunch. They have great burgers, chicken sandwiches, and wonderful kid's meals. Prices are pretty good for the Disney area.

never going back

the valet guy ripped us off from the get go. it was a 17.00 valet charge, my son in law gave the guy a 20 dollar bill, never got his 3.00 change so assumed the valet guy thought it was a tip. the next morning upon check out..we notice that the 17.00 valet charge was applied to our bill, we told the guy at check out that we had already paid it the previous morning to the valet guy, and the guy at check out told us it was pretty much our word against the valet guys word. he said alot of times the valet guy will take a 20.00 bill as a very "generous" tip ! We didn't get one of our rooms till 4:00 pm..after calling maybe 5 or 6 times to find out the status of our room. we were told it was a "guaranteed 3:00 check in" but still didnt get in till 4:00. In one of our rooms the TV had lousey reception, a very snowy picture and the frige did'nt keep things cold. From now on I would rather stay at one of the neighboring hotels across the street..and I will definately dissuade family and friends from staying at any of the Disneyland hotels.

Disneyland Hotel - Still Magical

My last visit to the Disneyland Hotel was in 1996 and at that time, it was a beautiful property. I wondered if anything had changed in 12 years. We arrived early, around 1 pm, and the front desk cast member, greeted me with "Hi, how are you?" I said "please tell me that you have a room ready for me." Megan said that the room assigned to us was not ready, but she checked with the room assignment desk and they were able to get me into a room, King bed in the Dreams tower, as I requested. The room was beautiful, I loved the Disney bedspread, very subtle Disney, not bold Mickey Mouse. The room had a free refrigerator, free internet access, free coffee in the lobby. Our view was of the Neverland Pool, but we didn't spend much time in the room so view was not important. This was my husband's first time in Disneyland, California and so he was impressed. There were some negatives, although some not the fault of the hotel. The monorail, which was the main reason I chose the Disneyland Hotel, didn't run one of the days of our stay; the first night the monorail service was erratic at best. Of course, the monorail is no longer touted as a resort transportation benefit, it's a Tomorrowland attraction. Because of medical reasons, I do have problems walking too far, and we did have to walk to the California Adventure Park, but it wasn't too bad and there were places that you could sit in Downtown Disney District if needed. I do wish that all Disneyland resort hotels would provide tram service to the theme parks, but because of Downtown Disney, I don't know how feasible that would be. Back to the Disneyland Hotel, housekeeping was always timely, the room was always cleaned up by the time we got back to the hotel, whether it was early or late afternoon. The room amenities were of better quality than many, cast members are friendly and you do feel welcomed there. My only complaints: They close everything, food, sundries, gift shop at 10pm, so when the park closes at midnight and you get back to your room, you'd better have already purchased any food or beverages beforehand. You can't even get room service after 10pm. Maybe I'm spoiled living in Las Vegas where the hotels have services 24/7. The other problem we had was with the room itself. Because of how the airconditioner is situated, the condensation caused the carpet on one side of the bed to be soaked. I called housekeeping the first morning, and nothing was done. I called guest services the second morning because at this point, we had to put our bath towels down on the floor, or step into sopping carpet when you get off the bed. Again, nothing was done. Finally, I called the front desk the third morning and they offered to change my room, which did not make sense considering we were leaving the next day. I just asked that they send someone to please wet vac it and check the A/C unit. They did send maintenance to check the unit, but no wet vac until I called again. Before we went back to Disneyland for our final night, I stopped at the front desk to speak to someone in person. The front desk cast member apologized and said that they will make it right. They did give me a credit to my bill for $75, and I do appreciate Disney's commitment. to exceed guest expectations. Would I stay here again - most definitely, we're going back in December.

Horrible service as Goofy?s Kitchen

Our table and silverware was dirty, the person who was calling diners to tables was unnecessarily rude to us on several occasions and the manager seemed to care less. Bravo to the kitchen staff though; friendly folk and their American cuisine on the buffet line was fantastic. (Couldn?t get enough of those lemon bars!) However, coupling the good food and the bad service together, I?m still not sure the experience of the character diner overall was worth $40. The host himself single-handedly ruined the magic of my Disney day.

This was worth every bit of the money

This was worth every bit of the money it cost. We were in the tower that overlooks the park, on the 9th floor. We had the most amazing view! We slept with the huge balcony doors open all night. We stayed at the Hollywood Roosevelt hotel for 3 nights also and this was MUCH nicer...and less expensive! The room was quite clean and the beds were very comfortable. They offered us a coffee pot but we didn't need it as there was coffee made in the lobby. There was also a mini-fridge, which came in quite handy. I especially liked the "room credit card" which comes with the room. You give it as "payment" anywhere in the park and the tab is billed to your room. We used it at several eating establishments in Disneyland and DCA and also used it at the hotel pool's bar. Very convenient - I could even leave my purse in the room!
Bottom line: I go to Disneyland 3-4 times per year, and the Disneyland Hotel is my new place to stay.
