Was even less impressed when I opened the door to my room and was met with a stench. Thought about checking out but I had a long day of travelling and figured I could tough it out for one night, even though I had reservations for two. Bought a can of Lysol and used the entire can. Best cleaning that room ever had. Decided to iron clothes...no ironing board or iron. They keep them at the front desk. Went to set the clock radio...no clock radio. Awakened at three in the morning by a loud disagreement between a husband, his wife and her boyfriend. Checked out first thing in the morning. There was hair on the bathroom floor and soap wrappers from previous travelers behind the door of the bathroom. The floors were dirty. The bathtub walls were crumbling. The bedding looked soiled. The sink backed up everytime we used it. The stairs to get to the second floor were steep and hard. Some you really had to stretch to get up and the others were normal. I love the older style motel that lets me park right outside my door. Staff helpful. Room very clean. Would have loved bigger, flufflier towels but that is a seldom found thing in motels probably because of theft. Had a comfortable desk chair. Large tv. Just could not be better for a handicapped person traveling alone. Wish the larger chains would put all doors on outside since the inside corridors require so much walking and carrying and I do not feel safe in them at all. It has been my favorite place to stay in Concord for years and the upgrade makes it even better. The rooms were fairly clean, but the motel was in a general state of repair complete with an air of neglect. Holes under the carpet on the second story walkway worry me. My only complaints are that the sheets did not fit the bed & kept coming off the corners and that the toilet was so low to the floor it felt like it was designed for a child or little person.
