The desk clerk would not to go get the item, saying that we would have to contact housekeeping. We called, no answer, we left a message and asked for a return call, recalled desk clerk who still refused to do anything. Over the next several days this happened over and over again. Anyone who answered passed the buck, never an answer or return call from housekeeping. Finally, we reach housekeeping. The first person to answer does not speak English, and the second says "We searched the room and didn't find anything" before she even had all the information needed to answer the question. Calling desk, manager, who knows from there, they all now treat us like we are idiots and must not have left anything in the room. There is no sign of anyone acting like a human, no apologies, not even a sign of caring. We travel a lot. But once we got there it wasn't as bad as i thought. The only downfall was getting in and out of Manhattan every day, there is a free shuttle bus to the airport but sometimes you could be waiting ages, our first day we waited outside the hotel to go to the aiport and we were there for over half an hour. You can either get a train or bus into Manhattan, this costs $25.00 or $30.00 return. Even though they say its across from the airport unless you have you own transport you have to take shuttle bus or taxis. You can't walk! Reception staff not very friendly. Breakfast not good and not worth the money. But the rooms were nice. I had the manager come in with me to look at it. She looked me straight in eye and said "This is not acceptable. It is filthy" then according to manager wrote a note for him that it was not. They also lied about time it takes to get to NY they say when you call about 25 minutes but don’t say their shuttle to the airport to get monorail to get to train (they also don't tell you about those costs and waiting times) takes according to manager on phone up to 45 minutes. So much for about 25 for whole trip., it actually took an hour in one direction and over an hour back to where I almost missed my NYC meeting relying on their times. The desk staff was discourteous. The guarantee of fixing things or get a partial refund was ignored at the time. When called I was asked what I thought I should get back. It is up to the hotel to honor the guarantee and show by what they offer back that they indeed do take customer concerns and complaints seriously. This hotel was, by the statement of a fellow traveler that day filthy in more than 1 room as he said his was also. The manager told me that others "higher than I" look at all the rooms in inspection and they say they're clean: that in fact the hotel has won awards. When I scoffed at that he became very angry and defensive. This hotel was not well served by whom they have chosen to speak for them.
