Nice, but poor service

The setting and restoration of this hotel is very unique and interesting, with the train theme. Our standard room was nice, a little tight and could have used more space for hanging clothes, but otherwise was comfortable. HOWEVER, our entire family was there for a wedding, and most chose to use the valet parking. Some of the groom's immediate family did not get to the church (and family photo sessions) because the hotel could not get their cars out in time. They had allowed more than an hour. When asked for help from the hotel in driving them in their shuttle, they were told no; they could not get a taxi because their young children needed car seats, which were in their cars! Disappointed as they were, we all understand things happen sometimes. But we found there was no accountability or sense of ownership in the problem. After traveling 2 days to get to this wedding, (the reception was being held at the hotel by the way), one would expect at least a little sympathy or sincere apologies. Or even if they had told the familty in time that the cars were stuck in the garage, they could have tried to make alternate arrangements, Instead, they all just watched 6 adults and 3 young children stand around for 1 1/2 hrs. waiting for their cars. (and remember -- you pay $25 a day for the "privilege" of allowing them to bring your car to you - eventually). I would definitely NOT recommend coming on a weekend when anything is booked in the nearby sports facility where the hotel apparently parks the cars! Again - nice place, lousy attitude towards the guests, at least in this case. There is no making up for a missed event like a special family wedding -- but one should at least expect "bending over backwards" apologies for causing such a situation! Instead, they were told to take their issues up with the sports arena! That said, the Grand Ballroom is just awesome!

Recently, my business travels brought me to Indianapolis. Not expecting much, I figured the Crowne Plaza would be an OK place to hang my hat for the week. However, when I entered the hotel I was immediately impressed. When I pulled up to the hotel, I was greeted by a friendly valet that offered to take my car and help with my bags.
Then, I walked into the hotel where a smiling representative checked me into my room. Since I was a priority club member, I was able to stay in the Priority Club section of the hotel. I think this section is a bit quieter and more business traveler friendly than the train cars and other sections of the hotel. Signing up is free if you'd like to sign up before you .
When I arrived in my room, I immediately noticed that it was immaculately clean. And, there was tons of room to move around (not something you'll have in the train car rooms, although they are pretty cool to see). Then, I laid on the bed and felt like Goldie Locks - the bed was just right! Not too firm, not too soft, crisp sheets, fluffy comforter, and super clean.
That night, I slept like a baby and was ready to go for my business meeting in the morning. Before leaving for the meeting, I received a copy of the paper and visited the business lounge for a quick coffee and breakfast before starting the day. When I arrived back at the hotel for my last night's stay, I was able to check in for my flight and print the boarding pass using the computer and printer in the business lounge.

It was located within walking distance of all the downtown activities.Nothing.“I would recommend this hotel to anyone, young and old. Its whole atmosphere was very unique and I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Its right in the heart of downtown Indy, so anything we wanted to do was within walking distance. The staff was very courteous and helpful. I felt like I had stepped back into time when I entered the hotel because of the train station theme.”

My family and I stayed here this past weekend and everything was great. Our room was on the 1st floor near the pool, which didn't lead to privacy if the curtains were open, but if you're looking for character, this is the place in Indianapolis. There were very cool 'ghost people' statues which lend itself to the historic nature of the hotel. Staff was nice and friendly. Restaurant breakfast was pricey and so is parking (use underground it is a litter less expensive). Clean, quiet, affordable, unique. I plan on going back.

Its actually in the first Union Station in the US. Their traincars are so wonderful, they are all themed and they are all different. If you love trains or have a passion for them, this is the place to stay. This hotel is so different from all the other ones downtown and its right next to Lucas Oil Stadium. That I love! I can literally work across the street! Beautiful place! You will fall in love with it.!
