Hotel is falling apart. Leaks in room. Staff's attitude has declined like the hotel. Breakfast good, but the rest of hotel is like a flop house. Have stayed there several times when part of the Hampton Inn chain. Has steadily delined. Location is poor, not best part of town.

Hotel has been purchased by another large chain and is in the process of remodeling. No room service or food service available other than a complimentary breakfast in the morning. Front desk staff was indifferent, going through the motions.
For those with e-tickets, there are two computers in the lobby where you can print your boarding pass before heading to the airport. That is a good idea.
Wireless was easily accessible from the room. Some hotels require codes and special plugs so this was good.
Bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet.

We stayed on the 9th floor. If you like

We stayed on the 9th floor. If you like to have your curtains open for light, stay on another floor. The pool was right out our window. So for privacy, we had to keep our curtain closed. I didn't ask for another room, We stayed only 2 nights. Yes, the locations is good for downtown walking. The parking is right there, I would have like to known of more security for night time. The staff was helpful when needed. The place is on the old side, but it is clean and they do try to keep it up.The bathrooms are on the small side and could use a picker upper. The breadfast was good. Gave you a wide variety of choices and only till 9:30 am. would have been nice if it would have lasted till 10:00 or 10:30.It was nice to know you had to have your room key to get to your floor. The only thing was, if somone else came in the elevator with you, DID THEY HAVE A ROOM KEY? IT was nice to have WiFI(free) most hotels are charging for it now. I recommend you stay here.

Booked a last minute trip through

Booked a last minute trip through Travel agency at the West End Hotel. The location was great - within walking distance to many restaurants and bars, as well as several other attractions. The hotel is older but in good shape and the staff was super friendly.
I won't lie and say the hotel is perfect but you did have to look for things to find them. We did not seem to have noise from the next room as stated in previous reviews.Dick's Last Resort and the Cadillac Bar were our favorite local places. However, a short cab ride or drive to Bread Winners Cafe is worth the trip.Would we recommend this hotel? Most definitely!

We stayed here for the Cotton Bowl game and found the hotel to be better than I expected. Breakfast was great, good variety and plentful. Central location, easily accessable by Dart transportation to go any direction. Exercise room was small but no one else was in there so it wansn't a problem. Hotel offers a free shuttle in a 3-5 mile radius but when we needed it, the driver didn't show up that morning on time. Plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance.

Pretty close to everything downtown,

Pretty close to everything downtown, and the staff is nice and helpful to help you get wherever you want to go: they look for (and print for you) maps and driving instructions to attractions, malls, libraries, supercenter stores, restaurants and the like. The bed was very confortable with plenty of pillows and sheets; everything was very clean. Complimentary breakfast was good, plenty and on time. Courtesy bus will take you wherever in a 5-mile radius and there are also various taxi services to and from the airport at good prices. Streetcar station is in the next block. The hotel can use a little bit more of security in the parking floors (specially at night) or at least to let the guests know they're safe and that there's security personnel watching. But there were plenty of parkings at a good price a night. Want to say again that the supervisors, desk staff, bus driver and room maids were very courteous and helpful.

The hotel was older but very clean, new paint, great bed with feather cover, and a hot continental breakfast. The rapid transit was right behind the hotel...if you are used to a quiet small town you might be awakened by some street noise even on the 16ht floor. I would stay there again but ask for a room on the opposite street. The courtesy bus took us to and from the state fair and to dinner at no charge, however we did tip the driver. you can walk to the restaurant if you like but walk on the rail side, not elm street. I was not afraid to walk there but there were two of us, one male. the desk personnel were very helpful. parking was adjoining the hotel in a garage. room cards were required to use the elevator for security reasons.

When I stayed at this hotel as the Hampton Inn it was good but now it's way better. I already get a good rate but the breakfast makes it all worth while and the staff is much friendlier and more helpful.
It's great value and I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are visiting the Dallas Downtown area.
See you next time.

I belong to Hilton HHonors, so staying at the Hampton Inn-West End wasn't the result of any great feature they had, just that I'm a member of their frequent stay program, and I like racking up hotel points and airline miles as the same time. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find it a great location for touring downtown Dallas. As a result of being a frequent Hampton Inn guest, I know that they have the best beds of any chain hotel I've stayed at, and this hotel was no exception. Our room was clean and bright but nothing fancy. The ubiquitous continental breakfast was included but I find theirs to usually be just a little bit better. They had sausage patties on the day we were there, so Mike considered it more than just a little better. The hotel is safely within walking distance of the JFK Sixth Floor Museum, Dallas World Aquarium, and the restaurants and nightlife of the historic West End. Since most of downtown Dallas is designed in a grid of one way streets, it's fairly easy to navigate if you're driving to and from the hotel.
