We booked late, so we had to book a king bed in a smoking room though we are non-smokers. The check-in staff didn't seem to want to be there, but there weren't any glitches until we got to our room, it was non-smoking, two double beds. I went back to the check-in counter and they told me that's what the reservation people sent them and that's all they could do for us as well as "well you got the double bed rate". Good thing it was just the two of us and we could each sleep in one bed; not ideal, but it could always be worse. The "fitness center" had a whopping 3 pieces of equipment. The pool area had no towels and there was no staff to be found in the immediate area. We could only stay in the pool area for 5 minutes because of the amount of chlorine in the pool and Jacuzzi or the lack of ventilation. Our eyes were burning unbelievably. Some areas of the hotel were quaint such as the sitting area and breakfast area, however, most other areas were ill maintained, holes in the walls, peeling wallpaper, and smoke smell everywhere. It was a very disappointing experience and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Each time, the jacuzzi in the pool area had cold water. The desk simply shrugged. Also last time I had reserved a Non-smoking room and was given a smoking. I had to wiat a day to change from smelly room. The price we paid was with a discount and still more than the room was worth. Although spacious, it looked empty. We cancelled our second night because we were so disappointed. We found another suite with a jacuzzi and a microwave oven and a much more comfortable atmosphere for less money, closer restaurants and between the two casinos. Our weekend was spoiled because we felt so ripped off. This hotel offers a free shuttle service to and from Mohegan Sun that runs well into the night. And they even give you a ten dollar food voucher and a ten dollar bet voucher. The good thing about this hotel is the location. it is very close to all the attractions in the area, e.g. Mohegan Sun casino is just a short 10 minutes drive. The hotel also has a sauna and indoor pool free for guests. But the staffs in the hotel is not friendly at all. Every time I felt like I was being treated as a low-priority guests e.g., I was given a smoking room and the staff didn't want to change it, a good place for good deals, now I feel I am compromising a lot of quality for cheap rates.
