I've stayed there at least 5 times. I've never been real pleased with the upkeep or the location in the parking lot of a boarded up shopping mall, but the proximity to Mom's house has kept me coming back. That all ended on my last visit. We checked into our room early Friday evening for a two night stay. We dropped off our luggage and headed out to dinner. Upon arriving back at our room around 11 PM we discovered that the door was unlocked and, in fact, there was no way to lock it from the outside because it wouldn't latch. Since it was late at night we waited until morning to report the problem. At the check-in desk the next morning we were told that they already knew about the problem. I have several gripes in addition to the fact that the lock wouldn't work. We talked with several people at the front desk over the course of the morning. No one was especially concerned that we wouldn't be able to lock our room for the day. We eventually had to haul all of our stuff back to our car so as not to worry about getting it stolen. After 3 visits to the front desk we were told we could have another room when one became available. No apologies were ever given for not telling us about the problem or for our inconvenience. I traveled all day long and I got lost trying to find this hotel, but it ended up being worth it! The desk clerk upgraded our room and we had excellent service the entire stay. I had a wonderful room, breakfast, and pool. I will definitely stay here again. Housekeeping respected our belongings and were polite in the hallways, also. I will tell everybody what a wonderful hotel this was! Also I was excited about the cleanliness of the hotel itself. With this visit not anywhere near as pleasant as the first. The room was musty,smelly, and not very clean. Could very easily have been one of the "out of repair rooms". Maidservice was lackluster at best, and hotel staff not very professional.
