      <title>A Filthy, Broken-Down, Pitt!</title>

      <description>I am writing to describe my stay at the Comfort Inn Carmel Hill on Munras Avenue in Monterey, California. My mother and I booked our stay at the hotel in January 2008 via Expedia.com services. Our stay was from June 17-21, 2008. I have never been as disappointed or disgusted with my stay at a Comfort Inn Motel as I was on this trip. The room was filthy, old, smelly, noisy, unattractive, cramped and broken-down. I did not expect a first class hotel, but I did expect a clean room with working equipment inside. Instead, what I found was filth and broken amenities. The room smelled like sewer all the time. It was coming from the bathroom shower stall, which absolutely reeked when the water was turned on. The carpet was stained and also very smelly. There were stains on the walls, which upon closer inspection, were crushed spiders and other bugs, probably from the previous occupant. In addition, there was a gaping hole where the wall met the floor. We tried to plug it with toilet paper and a pillow for fear that our room would be invaded by more spiders, which it was despite our attempts. I was also constantly swatting earwigs in the bathroom. &#xD;
The phone, alarm clock, and coffee maker were all broken, and when we tried to get help from the young desk clerk, we were treated to comments like, Why does this always happen on my shift? Although she did eventually replace the phone, she was not happy about doing it. The sheets and pillow cases were stiff and scratchy, and I ended up sleeping on top of the bed for my entire stay. I was disgusted to find that my mattress was torn open on the side and I could see the filler material. I chose not to inspect any further for fear I might find something living inside it. &#xD;
There was very little room to store our belongings and we had wished for a table bigger than a nightstand to help us organize. We found it difficult to sleep at night because the Hotel was full of noisy, thoughtless people shouting in the wee hours of the night, and rolling their suitcases all over the second floor. Also, since we were on the bottom floor, patrons vehicles were parked right up to our window, and their engine noise, slamming doors, and exhaust fumes pervaded the room. &#xD;
The bathroom was really horrendous, truly the worst I have experienced at any motel. There was no tub, just a very narrow, cruddy shower stall. When I turned the water on, I was nearly knocked out by the smell of sewer. The shower was filthy and I had to purchase flip flops so as not to stand on the floor with my bare feet. I unrolled the rubber shower mat only to find it filled with mold and hair. Also, the water turned to cold whenever someone up stairs used their shower. The sink and toilet fixtures were old and chipping, but at least they worked. &#xD;
The breakfast was plain and unappealing. I ended up eating cold cereal because there was nothing warm to eat except waffles, which you had to make yourself. The waffle iron caused considerable problems for customers, and I did not attempt to use it. The hotel attendant was very impatient and huffy with the customers when they struggled with the waffle iron. All of the breakfast attendants were unpleasant and never greeted people. They just slammed stuff around, rolled their eyes, or huffed and puffed.&#xD;
When we checked out around 3:30 in the morning, the desk attendant had clearly been sleeping. He was lethargic with long, unkempt hair hanging over his face. He barely spoke to us, and took a long tome to finalize the paperwork. He was not very professional to say the least. We deeply regretted staying in this room, and will never again book a package through Expedi.com. It was not worth the $100 a night, and it really spoiled our trip to Monterey. Furthermore, we will not stay at another Comfort Inn unless we inspect it for cleanliness and working fixtures first.</description>

      <title>A real Dump</title>

      <description>My daughter and I stayed at this Motel and was so disappointed,  it  almost spoiled the whole trip for us. After a wonderful day on the beach, we dreaded having to go back to our room. If it hadn't been prepaid by Expedia.com, we certainly would have left and gone elsewhere.&#xD;
 The room was  really filthy the day we arrived. The walls were covered with smashed spiders, which we found crawling  every where.&#xD;
 Upon arriving, we wanted to phone home because our cell phone would not work in that area.We had to use the room phone,and of course  it was broken,along with the alarm clock, and also the coffee pot.&#xD;
 The room doesn't have a bathtub so one needs to use an old filthy shower stall. Upon inspection, it  was filled with hairs, and the water stunk like sewer water.&#xD;
 There were  big holes along the bottom of the walls which I had to block up with toilet paper for fear that spiders or earwigs would come crawling out of them.&#xD;
As for sleeping, if you were brave enough to shut the light out,the pillows and sheets  were very loud and crinkly and  it was extremely noisy  all night long.&#xD;
 We paid over $100.00 a night for this dump! The only good thing I can say is that the young lady at the desk was very nice and the breakfast was ok if you didn't mind cooking some of  it yourself.</description>

      <description>This place was terrible.  The internet never worked and the support service they had kept me on hold for 45 back and forth.  The rooms were dated and needed work.  The manager was never available and I found dust and someones belongings under the bed. I have stayed at Comfort Inns before and the only reason I chose to stay here was because I used my miles, it was a waste.  I left a message for the manager and no one returns calls.</description>

      <description>We visited in early May 2007.  This place is not in the heart of tourism, but it's a short drive to downtown Monterey attractions.  It looks like one of those old-style motels that was renovated.  I was pleasantly surprised.  The place was very clean and felt safe.  And they had all kinds of flowers everywhere making the grounds very attractive.  They had a free breakfast and the staff was nice enough.  Just don't forget to tell them to take off the fee for the safe if you don't use it.  It cost a little more than I wanted to pay for that caliber hotel (it being a renovated motel), but it was much cheaper than staying in the tourist district.  It felt more like cottages.  Overall, it was nice.</description>
