The hotel was centrally located. I had a single room with has the typical twin bed which was fine. It's right in front of the Cathedral, less than 5 minute walk to Las Ramblas and close to the Metro. Buy the Metro 10-stop pass at the corner Cigar shop (cheaper than at the station - per the cigar shop attendant). From the airport take the Aero Bus and pay the driver and don't fumble with the ticket machine. The last stop on the bus is Playa Catalonia. Short walk to the hotel. But watch your things. Watch out for cab drivers they will nickel and dime you. Atleast they hit me up for 35 Euros when it shouldn't have been more than 25 Euros. The Metro is one Euro less than the bus but annoying if you need to change trains. Up and down stair cases. Very cumbersome.

Location, architecture and style.Amenities, no view.“The hotel is in a great location in the center of the city, just a few blocks from the Rambla. In this regard it is excellent for leisure visits. Unfortunately my room completely lacked anything resembling a view, a real shame considering the location. The internet amenities are not acceptable esp. if you're in Barcelona for business. Otherwise great staff and reasonable accommodations.”

The Best of Barcelona

We stayed 4 nights here at the Colon and enjoyed every minute of it. Barcelona is a large city and it was great to be so central to the most popular locations such as La Rambla, the beach (& cruise ship dock) and the Gothic Quarter. There are 3 restaurants in the square and many more within walking distance.

The hotel is in the middle of a Barrio free of traffic which allows the locals and the tourists to congregate in the square in front of the hotel and the Barcelona Cathedral. In the evening we sat on our balcony and watched musicians and street entertainment, and on Saturday we watched 10 pm Mass outside the Cathedral.

Our room was large, very clean and lovely; and the private bath included a bidet and double sinks. I would definitely stay there again.

The facilities and staff were excellent and good location. It was extremely noisy and was difficult to get sleep.“The hotel accommodations, location were excellent. My big complaint, and it is huge, is that it was extremely noisy and we could not get a good nights rest.”

They gave complimentary upgrades both

They gave complimentary upgrades both Days excellent rooms.I thought the breakfast they offered was expensive for what was offered.“We stayed at the colon before and after a cruise. The location is excellent, near city center across the square from the cathedral. It was a 15-20 minute cab ride to the port and a 25-30 minute ride from the airport. The first night she said she was upgrading us and we shouldn't expect such treatment on our following stay. We had a room on the 6th floor with a balcony. Beautiful. It was on a side street but very nice. With the balcony door open it was a bit noisy with the revelers and then the garbage men but with the door closed it was fine. When we returned we were again upgraded and this time the room was directly across from the cathedral and had 15'x20' terrace with local plants and shrubs. We were able hear the music from the square and watch the Spaniards do their traditional dancing (impromptu) with ease. There are markets nearby and several places to eat. Museums and churches are also very close. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.”
