Excellent value for the price

Yes, the room is small (it's NYC!). But the location is excellent, the room and lobby were clean and well appointed, the front desk staff was pleasant, and with free continental breakfast and wifi, this hotel is a great option when in the city.

1 block from subway and walking distance to Times Square, theaters, shopping, Empire State Building. The small elevator and narrow hallways give lie to a fairly spacious room. We'll stay here again for theater weekends.

pros: locationI booked this room through one of the bargain deal hotel websites thinking I was going to make this a solo trip to NYC. However, life happens and plans change. Wanting a larger room which could accomodate two people, I called the hotel directly to make the change. First of all, when they answered, they tersely said "HELLO!" A properly answered front desk greeting for a hotel is to state the name of the hotel at least. Not knowing if I had dialed the correct number, I asked if this was the hotel by name. "Yes," he stated with a heavy Indian accent. With nothing more said on the other side, I proceeded with my inquiry deciding to ignore the rudeness (after all NYC is not known for their kindred spirits and overwhelming hospitality). He gives a chuckle after my request and starts speaking to someone on the other side in Hindi about how this American is so.....You get the picture. The guy was making fun of me thinking I did not understand!! This is how the service began at this place before I even arrived there. You cannot imagine what happens next. Truly, the rudest and meanest front staff ever! They are definitely not service orientated.

Good water pressure in shower.Room was too small.“This hotel is tiny! The rooms are no bigger than a twin bed and are ridiculously expensive. If you're staying with more than 2 people, find another hotel! Oh on top of that, the day manager is very rude; she kept rolling her eyes at me when she was checking me in (I was telling her not to put me in a smoking room because I am highly allergic to cigarette smoke).”

I thought this hotel was just right. Good location (only 1 block to subway), clean, helpful staff, and reasonably priced. The only negative was the small room size, but since I was by myself it was not an issue. Lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. It was just what I'd hoped for.
