Avoid

Below is a brief list of the numerous complaints I had about the Claridge:

1) The night staff for the front desk were not helpful at all. When I arrived very late in the evening, they failed to mention that I could purchase a parking pass for my car for the lot across the street. Instead, I was informed I needed to get up before 8am to make sure I fed the meter before I got a ticket. The next day, after I woke up early and fed the meter, the day staff informed me I could have purchased a parking pass and slept in.

2) The walls are paper thin. My neighbor liked to sleep with his tv on. I didn't sleep either night that I stayed there. In fact, my neighbor kept the tv going at full blast my second night when he left for several hours around midnight. It took me multiple calls to the front desk to have them come up to the room, wherein they entered and turned off the tv for me. A half hour later, my neighbor returned and turned it back on.

3) The hotel advertises that one of their amenities is a conference room, complete with phones, faxes and printers. It was a room with a table. I had to find a kinkos to get documents printed.

4) I didn't have water pressure. In fact, the shower knob fell off when I went to take a shower.

5) There was sand in my bed my first night. I hadn't yet been to the beach.

6) Don't drive to the hotel - if you do, don't move your car once you park it in the lot across the street (assuming they sell you a parking permit). The lot is for the public beach and you'll circle for hours on end trying to get a spot when you return.

Had an amazing time!

The hotel was even more beautiful than in the pictures they supplied. The staff was extremely helpful, and my room was modern & cheerfully decorated. The location's great, across the road from the beach. And it's only a 15 minute walk to South Beach. I would definitely visit again!

Miami can be cold

Terrible service - couldn't get through to the front desk as we were freezing and tried to turn the thermostat up - it was 39 degrees! Next morning when I went down to the front desk the clerk told me it was Miami and we didn't need heat & that's why the thermostat's didn't work any more.

The web photos of the hotel are

The web photos of the hotel are amazing, the actual hotel itself was very generic looking, I felt like I was on a movie set filled w/props. It is not located in the Art Deco District of South Beach. The locks didnt work for our room, we had to get 5 different key cards and help from housekeeping who taught us to shake the handle and blowing air into the lock itself in order to open the door. The front desk staff was rude and lazy, the only one that was helpful was the younger night crew members, the other man at night w/the gray hair was rude. When he parked other people's cars he smokes in them, I saw it with my own eyes; when you speak to him he ignores you. The bellman and one of the housekeepers was very helpful, the other housekeeper rolled her eyes and sized me up. Back to the actual hotel itself, the hot tube needed to be cleaned, the "gym" was a closet located in the basement, the hotel smelled like smoke. It is not located on the beach, which was disappointing. We asked for towels twice and it took almost 3 hours to receive them. There is no where within walking distance to go eat, not even a Walgreens for snacks. I would never stay there again and I recommend this place to no one.

Nice clean and quiet hotel

Pros: Clean, beautifully decoration, location, good price

Cons: Our room (206) had like a humidity odor

This hotel has a ad sign that reads "Miami's best kept secret" and is true. Very clean and most important quiet. This hotel is a few miles away from the heart of South Beach and its Ocean Avenue but that is a plus, after you enjoyed all night what you want is a nice place to rest away from the noise. Parties in S. Beach last until 5:00AM. A taxi ride to S. Beach is only $10.00.

The beach is across the street and a public parking as well that it is free after 6:00PM. Highly recommended.

I came down here for a spring weekend

I came down here for a spring weekend and I must say that the Claridge Hotel was great. The rooms were nice, the hotel as a whole was inviting and had a spanish charm to it. The employees were also very helpful and friendly.

It's not right on the Miami Beach 'strip', but it's either a quick cab ride or walk. There is a beach right in front of the hotel. Parking seems to be the only problem, as they charge $18 a day for valet parking.

Great value for the money when compared to other hotels around the area.

Can't wait to go back!

I loved the interior of the hotel. The decoration of the lobby, patio, and rooms is very elegant and classy without being stuffy or snobby. The service was truly wonderful, and I felt like the employees, especially those in the reception, included me into their families and treated me as one of their own. The restaurant was amazing, especially considering how convenient it is and the quality of the food.
