Excellent resort - would go back!

We stayed in one of the new condos at Chula Vista Resort shortly after the condos opened in July 2006. The condos were very nice...large rooms decorated tastefully. The only negative was the lighting, which was poor in most of the rooms. Chula Vista's new indoor water park was also having their grand opening when we were there. They offered great rides and the whole family had a great time!

What a wonderful vacation

This hotel should be a five star hotel. Here was my vacation in the wonderful Chula Vista Resort. I started off my vacation getting lost, due to my inabilities to navigate and my 5 year old son not quite being able to read a map. I called the resort where a very helpful employee easily guided my way through the Dells. I got to the resort and was extremely impressed. The front desk employees were friendly and extremely helpful. I was directed to my hotel room, which was in the "South Tower". After a long drive with a five year old, the beds were very inviting.

After flopping on the bed and sleeping for about an hour we were ready for the waterparks. We decided to check out the larger indoor waterpark. At first, I was a little leery, because I wasn't sure if the big waterpark was suitable for my son. However, my doubts soon vanished once I saw all the fun/kids-oriented activities. They have a lazy river for me and most importantly plenty of things to keep my son busy. After being water-logged, we went to Crash Landing (a little fast-food type of restaurant in the big indoor water park). The food was delicious and the service was very nice and polite. The next day we decided to try out the Mesa Grille for breakfast and the food there was scrumptious! I couldn't have asked for anything better than eggs, bacon, sausage, and pancakes! It was wonderful.

Then, we played mini golf, which was such a blast for both my son and I. After mini golf we went to the outdoor pool and enjoyed the sun. They had kid’s activities, but only on the weekends. We had fun coloring little masks and totem poles. After that we went to the Fab 50's show, which I wasn't sure if my son would enjoy, but was pleasantly surprised when he started bouncing along. Our stay was so wonderful. I have stayed in other hotels in the Wisconsin Dells area such as the Kalahari, the Wilderness, the Polynesian, and not one comes close to the amazing service and beautiful hotel as the Chula Vista Resort.

Totally a leisure stay. More amenities that we needed.Limited parking with on-going construction. Good News. The new indoor water park is now open. Just got back from a 2 night, 4th of July stay in the New condos that just opened July 1, 2006. Everything is new. Full kitchen, appliances (including dishwasher), Jacuzzi. Price included admission to all water park activities and miniature golf. Morning buffet is the best value. Cooking in condo for dinner. Friendly Staff. Most speak English fluently. Construction on-going for expansion of condos and golf course. Five month old daughter had a blast in the old indoor water park.

We stayed at the Chula Vista Resort

We stayed at the Chula Vista Resort because of a great all-inclusive special they were having--$99/night and all you can eat and drink (2 nights minimum). For the price we paid, it was a good deal. However, I don't think I would ever pay Chula Vista's regular rates. The room we stayed in was a junior king suite. It was okay, nothing really nice, but it basically met my expectations of a hotel room. The fact that it was a suite basically that meant that there was a short wall dividing part of the room from the part with the couch and TV. The bed was okay--we are spoiled at home with memory foam, so we didn't sleep very well. We had a nice view of the forest behind our room and a balcony (but didn't spend much time there because it was winter!). There were few in-room amenities, the towels were small and rough, and there was only a soap dispenser on the wall for body soap/hair shampoo (same product). The room was spacious enough for the two of us, but I wouldn't try to put four adults in there (the coach was a pullout). The all-inclusive deal was what really made us go there. In the information on their website, it sounded like all food, beverages, and alcohol were included. However, when we got there, we found that while it really was all you can eat (except for the lobster), it was not all you can drink--you were limited to certain "rail liquors," tap beers, and house wines. Not really surprising, but I wished they had spelled it out better on the website. However, the food overall was very good and we enjoyed being able to get drinks on the house. Note that you do have to tip the waitstaff. The website also makes it sound like there are four different restaurants, but really it's only two, as the buffet and the Grand Mesa Grille occupy the same space, as do the bar and Luigi's Pizza. My husband and I both agreed that if it weren't an all-inclusive deal, we definitely wouldn't have eaten there. The prices were very inflated. However, one thing we really appreciated was that they served breakfast until 11:30am (we like to sleep late while on vacation!). Your all-inclusive benefits also started at 2pm on the day of check-in and last until 11:30am on the day of check-out (even though check-in was 4pm and check-out was 10:30am). Chula Vista has a very small water park, which might be nice for kids, but if you're looking for a real water park (we weren't), stay elsewhere. They are adding on, though, so the new indoor water park and new rooms may be much nicer than what we saw. The most annoying thing about the all-inclusive was that you had to wear a plastic bracelet the whole time. It was very tough plastic and was a bit of a nuisance.
I like Chula Vista Resort because their employees are always so nice and friendly. Chula Vista always has great deals and packages to make your trip worth while. They are located right on the Wisconsin River making the views just breathtaking. They have a indoor pool, arcade, spa, outdoor waterpark and minature golf. And their maintenance staff is the best in the world.

All Review Photos Chula Vista Resort

All Review Photos Chula Vista Resort is a huge resort that also has a huge restaurant (currently home to my family Easter and Christmas dinners - my Grandma doesn't cook anymore and everyone else burns things).

I get lost every time I'm here. There's a lot packed in this building.

During the summer there's over 3 acres containing 14 waterslides. There's the 18-hole mini-golf course AND an 18-hole golf course. And a scenic area that has fountains, waterfalls and desert-esque surroundings. There's over 100 acres to go hiking and explore the grassy knolls.

If it's a bit cold out, they also have an indoor waterpark, a 75-capacity whirlpool, waterslides, water basketball and a kiddie play pool.

There's lots of room choices starting at about $70 a night. Beyond the basics (TV, microwave, etc.) they offer rooms with patios, balconies, fireplaces, whirlpools, bunk beds (??) and a separate room to keep the kids away. And I forgot to mention the themed rooms such as Southern Plantation, African Safari, Wild West (king size bed in a wigwam and two twin beds in a covered wagon) and Space Final Frontier (with moon crater whirlpool).

The food is good, but a bit on the pricey side. The Easter / Christmas buffet is about $20 per person but it's all you can eat. Things such as soda and coffee aren't included though. The regular food is also good offering everything from chicken cordon bleu to pizza to shrimp. Menu is decently priced as is the bar.
