Great trip with the kids

I am so glad that we chose the Catamaran for our hotel. We stayed in the tower and had beautiful views of Pacific Beach and the neighborhood. We had great breakfasts every morning in walking distance. My daughter got an earache the first night and I walked across the street to a local market where they sold practically everything and thank goodness aspirin! Our room had a full kitchen even though I did not pay for it.

THe pool and hottub were wonderful. THe property reminded me of Hawaii. THey even had an authentic luau one Friday night. I didn't pay for the dinner, but we enjoyed the dancers, flame-throwers and fireworks at the end. (I didn't htink our kids would sit down through all of the luau)

THe free arcade was the biggest hit with our kids. We enjoyed it tremendously because we could hang out in the hottub or lounge at the pool and not worry about our 8 and 5 year olds because it was next to the pool in an enclosed bamboo fence. We also met a lot of nice couples at the pool.

THe only surprise was the $15 per night parking fee. But you have to expect it at such a nice area as this where parking is at a premium.

All of the entertainment features for children.Parking costs $12/day for self and $16/day for valet. The facilities were fabulous! Even though I didn't like having to pay for parking, the property offered many other amenities that were included such as the boat ride (free), the video arcade (all games free), the luau dancers, the science camp ($3 per kid), etc.

Brought two teenagers and they had a blast. It's close to Sea World, right on the bay and walking distance to the beach. The room was clean and quiet. Beautiful resort.

The place was great. We called to book our room instead of booking online. They hooked us up with the top floor. Awesome views. The bell boy hung out with us for a few and gave answered all of our questions about the area. Everytime we saw him over the weekend, he would recongize us and say high. The staff was really friendly. The location was perfect too, close to resturantes, beach, etc.

We can't wait to go back.

Have never stayed at a resort and decided to splurge for our 3rd anniversary - hotel was within a block of the beach and several restaurants/bars - had a wonderful time and would definitely return.

I have been coming to the Catamaran for years. My company pays for everything so I don't mind, but if I ever had to spend my own money on this place I would think twice. True the hotel is on the older side but they don't seem to be doing anything to not make it look so. The rooms are fair but there is always something wrong with my room wether it be a sliding door not opening, shower temp. is anyone's guess, freezing one min. and scalding the next, old furniture (my room in the tower did have a new pillow top bed). The food in the Atoll restaraunt is very good although room service can be extremly slow. This trip the elevator sounded like it was stuck on my floor opening and closing with a loud bang evrytime. I had to go out a few times and send it down. Frustrating. The spa is very nice and the staff friendly. One thing that I did notice was that alot of the tropical vegitation looks like its dying. Everytime I come back it looks worse. It seems like they are trying to cover it up with a bunch of colorfull flowers that aren't even tropical. It's sad that a place with so much potential (Mission Bay on one side, and the Pacific Ocean on the other )is getting cheaper and charging more. The bottom line, I wouldn't pay stay here

Overall, not too bad-the rooms are as others described...smallish and outdated bathrooms. First were put on the 8th floor straight across from elevator;front desk was very accomodating to change us. As another mentioned, water temperature not consistent...luke warm to scalding in seconds, no matter when. Housekeeping was prompt; pool area/arcade were nice. The $--/day parking is excessive and concierge seemed bothered when I asked for directions. Normally we stay at Holiday Inn-ish and thought we would splurge, but probably could have saved money and had about the same experience.

Common areas are well maintained and interesting. Great pool and spa.Room poorly maintained, concierge service inaccurate and snotty, Rooms are falling apart. Rate paid is high above quality of room. In contrast: pool, jetted spa, grounds, water sport dock/staff, view of bay, all excellent.
