I LOVED the Catalina! Hip, cheap, comfy and close to everything! I heard NO loud music, experienced NO bed bugs and who cares whether the bartender smiles. The room was small, yes, but who cares! You're in SOUTH BEACH! Go out! Free drinks for an hou

LOVED THE CATALINA HOTEL!!

pros: Hotel has great poolside, spa and incredible staff. Great view of Collins Avenue and Kung Fu Sushi RestaurantI am a little puzzled as to some of the negative comments about this hotel. The Catalina is amazing. In fact, I have been to Metropole and Whitelaw Hotels. The Catalina, Metropole, Whitelaw, Hotel Chelsea and a few others are all owned by South Beach Group. I have to say that the Catalina impressed me. I loved the lobby and how you can relax and look out to Collins Avenue. The pool area is great. I loved the rooms. I thought the bathrooms were real nice and I am a hotel connoisseur of some sorts when it comes to accommodations and if I saw a flaw, I would mention it. The only drawback is sometimes the water pressure is not strong but it was not that bad. The hotel staff is nice, helpful and courteous. I have to mention "Jessica" who was newer to the staff at The Catalina but really knows about customer service and how to treat people. I really enjoyed meeting her and she was one of the many reasons I want to come back. If you are a sushi lover, like I am, make sure you try Kung Fu Sushi. It is soooo good! The restaurant is gorgeous to the eye. Overall amazing stay!

Location.Not well kept.“Hotel tried too

Location. Not well kept.“Hotel tried too hard to be modern and different. The room was definitely unique, but little attention to detail made it look fairly poor (the painter obviously didn't have a steady hand as the trim lines were horrid). The white parts of the walls were very scuffed. The best thing about the hotel was the shower - very unique. The shower head was mounted in the ceiling, giving a totally free-falling overhead waterfall feeling to the shower. For the price, the hotel was acceptable.”

Good located.Bad customer service,

Good located.Bad customer service, small room size, small bathroom, noise during night and day, bad smelling, thin walls, bad customer service.“All these complain regarding this hotel are true. It looks nice outside, and then you get your key room and surprise! This hotel smells like wet dog perfumed with cheap cologne. It has its cleaning car 24x7 standing around the hallways, thin walls and tiny hallway to go through your room's door; which allows you to hear perfectly who is getting in and getting out, jocks, smiles, laughing, drunken people noise and some passion noises also. The room are very smalls with two non comfortable beds, no central air (they have an old unit of air conditioning to make your dreams loud), cheap decoration, red walls and lights (like a strip nightclub). The bathroom is tiny where only one person can fit at the time. Customer service: the worst ever, rude people with arrogant attitude and low customer service skills. They consider themselves as a 3 hotel stars; honestly it looks like a motel inside with a nice front. I requested a bigger room due to noise and room's size and of course they did not have another one available. I told them I was not satisfied with their service and installations and they did not care about it. Conclusion: I don't recommend you to stay in this hotel at all.”

Fairly decent location.Way too noisy, and the rooms are so dark it is difficult to even find something in your luggage.“This is definitely a party hotel on the weekends - very loud and noisy in the wee hours. The rooms are small, as to be expected in this area, but very poorly lit. Phones did not work correctly at times.”

Free drinks, breakfast at the cafe, bed.Hotel staff were rude, rooms were terribly small.“I would not recommend this hotel as a romantic restaurant. The place is usually filled with drunk Juveniles. I love the fact that they have free drinks and complimentary passes to clubs and the location is excellent.”
