You definitely get what you pay for! Whatever "renovations" that were being done in 2007 are definitely no where to be seen in 2008! The carpets are still disgusting, the towels still cheap, the beds are older and the musty smell is everywhere. The only saving grace would be the incredible view of the Worlds Most Famous Beach, the pool is well maintained and there is a life guard posted directly behind the "resort". The room itself was dirty; I got the impression from the cleaning supplies in the closet this was a "do-it-yourself" kind of place, but prior visitors obviously hadn't cleaned-up after themselves. The room had a mini-kitchen that needed some renovation & repair; otherwise the room furnishings looked OK. Bed & couch were basically comfortable, not remarkable. Pool area & outside grounds were very attractive & clean. We did discover there was active repair & remodeling going on in other areas of this hotel. He told us that the renovations were complete but minor touch-ups still needed to be made. Well my family and I arrived to check-in and the hotel looks nothing like the pictures on the travel website. We asked to see the rooms before we completed the paperwork. It was AWFUL! The capet was ripped and stained, there was a horrible stench and the rooms were not clean and the elevator floors were sinking in. When we went back downstairs and told the clerk that we had a problem, he was very nonchalant about our concerns. This hotel is old and it shows. The ceilings were stained in the lobby, and the elevators (2) were a little scary. There is only 1 way up to your room and that is the elevator which is located in the lobby. If you are at the pool or on the beach, you have to walk all the way to the front of the building to go upstairs and they have plenty of signs posted for no wet swimsuits in the lobby, which made no sense to me at all. The beds were old and not very comfortable. Take your own pillow and towels. I don't know if they get a discount on towels, but they are very rough and small. My water would not turn off in the bathtub. The small refrigorator stunk and the tv is limited to very few channels. The hallways were a little musty smelling and the carpet was horrible in the halls. I will say that the pool was a good size and the hotel is located right onn the beach, but only a few rooms are ocean front. The rest of the rooms have an ocean view.
