Stayed at the Capes in October and had a wonderful time. Although we have been to va beach many times this was our first time at the capes. I have always liked the location and the small size of the hotel but was skeptical to give it a try. I dec

Fabulous October Getaway Trip!!!

Based on the reviews @ yahoo travel, we decided that The Capes was a perfect place for our family to stay for our October 2-day Getaway! The room was very clean, the staff was very friendly & helpful, everything was perfect including our weather! It was so great to be actually able to afford an Oceanfront room where in the morning you could watch the sunrise & see the dolphins!!! At night you could watch the sun setting & still feel completely safe & comfortable! We have small kids so the room having it's own refrigerator & sink with counter space & cabinets was excellent! We had great family time here at The Capes!

Lucky Find!

We found The Capes by accident, while traveling up the coast but what a find. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights in mid August and loved it. We really wish we had a week so to stay. Very quiet, relaxing, located right in the middle of the beach with all sorts of entertainment across the street like restaurants, music, and stores. We loved the thoughtful decor in our room which was truly eclectic but you could tell it was put together with care. Lots of special details through out the hotel. The kitchenette is set up with the standard items fridge, micro, coffee maker, cups. Also, there's an excellent oceanfront view and a relaxing balcony. Everything was clean, clean, clean. Very cool! It's refreshing to visit a place that trusts its guests to be sophisticated and considerate of others. A decidedly "uncorporate" environment located in the middle of the beach among all the big chains/big box hotels! The owners/operators should be proud of the little paradise they've set up. We will return ASAP!

Lousy place overall - will never stay there again

Old squeaky beds, towels thin as paper (may be some paper towel are thicker and will feel better on your body), lousy management attitude of "don' like it check out or don't stay here"

This Hotel is Great

We stayed in this hotel July 17- 19, 2008. We got the Queen Jacuzzi, the room was beautiful and clean, the Jacuzzi tub was great, the oceanfront view was beautiful, the beach is like your backyard. This hotel is in the heart of everything, you can walk to stores and restaurants on the strip. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. Everything was on point, except the hotel doesn't allow visitors (But who has to know ;) Also the pool was very small and only 4ft deep, but who needs a pool when you got the beautiful ocean. This is a great hotel and I will definently reccommend it.

Capes - Would Stay Again in a Heartbeat

We stayed at the Capes for 4 nights in late August 2007. We had a double room which includes a room facing the ocean with 1 double bed, the kitchenette/bath area & a room facing the street with two double beds. The hotel was not 100% full, but almost full during our stay.

What we liked about the Capes is that the front desk was very friendly, parking was available, convenient and non-valet, the location was great (right on the beach) and we did not hear a sound from the adjoining rooms (above/below/next door) during our stay. The ktichen & rooms were very clean when we arrived, and you can get a very good gyro sandwich at the cafe attached to the hotel.

The only things that future guests should realize is that the bathrooms are on the small side, (although the vanity had a lot of counter space)and that there are no utensils provided (even disposable) with the kitchen. We were very comfortable there and would stay again.

Overpriced, poor customer service

This hotel is way overpriced for the "amenities" and complete lack of customer service you receive. first of all, there are no amenities! Parking and towels are NOT considered luxuries for me. Our room was right at 300 dollars for 6 nights. Houskeeping was a nightmare! Room never cleaned before 2pm. the last day there, at 5pm, our room was finally cleaned. Attempted to get some clean towels, but was told there were no clean ones. This will be the last time our family stays here. for this kind of price, you expect some amenities, like free coffee, shampoo, etc. Be prepared to bring all of that yourself. The housekeeping staff never left soap or toilet paper unless asked. Will be staying in a trusted chain hotel next time. Also, front desk staff rude and appear disinterested in assisting the customers who pay for their salaries!!

Not Once But Twice

We traveled to Virginia Beach on a moments notice( Best part about vacation we just go) Well when we arrived the other hotels were very expensive and alot of them were dirty we walked out of three. The fourth time we went to this tiny quaint hotel in the middle of all the big corporate ones. What a beautiful place clean friendly and what a view!!!!!! Everything was wonderful. It is family owned and they take pride in everything They greeted us immediately. I would recommend this place everytime It was such a great experience not only did we go in July we went back on August. And we will be back again this year And yes the pool is a little small but who needs a pool when you have an ocean right in front of you.

One of Va Beach's Best Hotels

Stayed at the Capes for the second time last week and for the second year we were not disappointed. Rooms were very clean, pool was clean, cafe was tasty, and the staff was just as firendly as last year. Actually the guy on the desk recoginized me from last year. How nice is that? The center of the beach location is the best and the view is breathtaking. We will return to the Capes next year and would recommned it to all our friends.

Capes-A Good Chioce for the Price!

I recently spent four nights at The Capes Resort. I found the staff to be friendly and very helpful. The housekeepers did a great job with keeping the room clean. I thoroughly enjoyed the oceanfront view and the location to all of the shops and nightlife activities. One major drawback in my opinion was the lack of wireless internet in the individual rooms. Overall I do believe that for the rate I paid the Capes was a great choice. In the summer months the rates are a lot higher and the Capes may not be as great a deal.
