nice lodge and great staff

The people there are very very nice. They gave a lot of useful informations and were always willing to help. The room is very good as well, for the price you pay. The lodge is located on the blue line route so you can go to other places easily, and it is very close to the lake!

This is the worst place I have ever stayed!!

ok... Where to start?? I have never wrote one of these reviews because i'm not to picky about motels, but I have to, because I would want someone to warn me about this place. We stayed in the pool house i guess you would call it, it sets right off the pool. When we first got here it was around 85 degrees and are place had its heater on and wouldn't turn off, we went to the front desk and asked the guy where are air conditioner was (because they told us when we called and made reservations.) He said we have a window unit. We looked in every window and no unit we went back to the office and told them there is no ac and the heater would not turn off. (Wouldn't you think they would know their own motel?) We finally had two men come to our room after asking several times to come fix it. One guy just said it was the fan, i think not, it was HOT air, he just wanted to leave it on. Finally the other guy had alittle sense and said we can't do that. They had to climb up in the ceil and cut the wires to the heater, well while doing this they cut the wire to the power too so then they had to fix that. Take about frustrating!! We didn't come to Estes Park to sit and watch a guy try to shut the heater off. Final they got that fixed, i was so mad that they told us we had ac and we didn't that i called several other hotels so we could go to another place but no luck, so we were stuck!!!
One day i wanted to get in the hot tub and it was cold, what a surprise!!! So again i went to the office and told them and then they locked it up. When we left it still wasn't hot, they should call it a "lukewarm tub," instead of a hot tub. The kitchette had about 2 glasses, 3 plates, and 2 pots, there is not way you could ever cook a meal unless you brought your kitchen with you.
There were 3 dirty kleenexs, a plastic lid, and straw on the floor when we got here, how welcoming it was. I never once took my shoes off, the floor was more than disgusting, stains everywhere!!!! I even showered with my flip flops on. The pictures on there website are very old they need to update because the place we stayed doesn't look like that at all. They don't have AC don't let them fool you. WE ASKED!! They said you don't need it, its cool at night. We no this, we have been coming to Colorado for years but sometimes it get hot during the day.I want you to know I'm from the country, I have lived on a farm my whole life so i'm use to being dirty but not like this. Spend alittle more money and stay some place else. STAY YOURSELF!!!

Dirty Clothes in Dressers

We stayed in the 3 room suite and found the room dirty. Someone left dirty clothes in the dressers. The bathroom was dirty. The shower ran very hot or very cold. Not good experience with young children.

Was Not Happy

I was unhappy because the room was not very big, smaller than the one pictured. There were three light bulbs burned out in the room and the room was sparsely furnished. The pool area was dirty and the swimming pool was full of bugs. The only good thing about this place was the location- close to everything.

I'll Be Back

I don't think Norm66 stayed at the Budget Host in Estes Park. He must have it confused with somewhere else. I have stayed at the Budget Host Four Winds 3 or 4 times a year for the last 20 years, and have never been unhappy. My last stay was yesterday. I found the room to be clean, the bed comfortable and warm, the service great. And the hot tub was to die for.
I already have a reservation to go back in September, and will probably go back for our anniversary in June, time permitting. I highly recommend this place.

AWFUL

The only recommendation we have is not to stay. Newly renovated means fresh paint. The carpet was dirty and was in need of replacement. There was coffee in the room but with not pot or cups to brew in. The bathroom was clean upon arrival but towel rack was coming off of wall. Towels were changed daily but bath was not cleaned nor soap replaced. Bedding was thin, blankets with holes and window that when cranked out broke. TV in bedroom had no remote and was filthy. The Hide-A-Bed couch sat directly on the floor and was filthy dirty behind it. One of the beds did not get made as we had left 1 sack lying on it and they would not touch it to make the bed. The Hot tub was in an enclosed room that smelled and the water in the hot tub was green. Pool water was warm but cloudy. Continental breakfast was twinkies and orange juice. However the Management willingly let us check out a day early and credited our card accordingly. The AAA rating is decieving. Pass this one by if looking to stay in Estes.
