Made our wedding visit fantastic!!!

pros: location/neatness/roomsThis was the best place for our group to be. It is a small, very clean well-kept motel. The renovated rooms were wonderful with ecclectic 70's decor. We could see other members from our party over the balcony. The service was fantastic esp Silvia(housekeeping) and Roberto - manager. Coming from Wisconsin we didn't want to get into the car and drive in LA if we didn't have to. We could walk to the Farmer's Market/two huge shopping centers (Grove and Beverly..) We walked to the Walk of fame and The chinese theater district( bussed back however - a little far) and we could walk to the Silent Movie Theater on Fairfax where the wedding occurred. The kitchen units/suites would be great for family and we wish we had known to ask for one. We did have one for a "bridal" suite the night of the wedding which was great for our son/wife. It was a great experience. And additionally Swinger's restaurant nextdoor/on site was great with excellent choices including vegetarian selections etc. Our visit far exceeded our expectations!!! Thank-you very much Silvia and Roberto

A Fun Place to stay..

Ive stayed at the beverley laural twice, both times whilst on break with the band I work for between tours. with my job I have stayed in some amazing and some far form amazing places round the world and I still think This place is in my top 3.. ok so its not the newest of places, but its atmospehere and ambiences is what this place is all about.. from The diner on the corner open 24/7 ( which can be a saviour when your hungry at 1am.. to the closeness to everything. the first stay there was 10 days and the second was 7 days.. The staff were more than helpful, even when i needed an extra room last minute, they gave me a double but only charged me a single.
The pool is a bonus in that LA heat, and i can't fault anything i could think of. during our stay we saw alot of people come thru and everyone seemed to be on the same vibe. I know its popular with artits on tour so we met up with another few bands that were heading thru town to play a festival. The band I was working for was a well behaved christian band, so we didn't pull any cliche rock and roll antics. I'd definately stay there again and have already sent 3 groups of friends there.
There si something about the place that screams LA.. I'm from new zealand so it stood out.

The Place to send the in-laws

We had a great time in LA. The view from the rooms and corridors is magnificent, the place is immaculate, the service amazing, and the atmosphere quiet and peaceful. You'd never guess how close the motel really is to everything! We loved it so much so that we are sending the parents-in-law there while on their trip to LA and we're sure to get some really great brownie points with them.

Never Fotten my Stay at Beverly Laurel

Even after gee I don't know how many years ago, I still to this day remember the Beverly Laurel. I loved that awesome place and it's totally cool 1960's ambieance. It was like feeling as if you would expect to see people in bell bottoms , gogo boots and false eyelashes with frost eye shadow and lipstick walking around! Such a neat flash-back to experience! I can remember going down to the office one night very late and asking the manager to break a bill for change so I could get a pack of cigarettes out of the vending machine, he was so cool and we started up a conversation and visited forever. The diner adjacent is so just as awesome! Something you hardly ever see anymore , with it's cool stools at the counter and booths. A truly vintage , unspoiled by the updating and modern . I find it actually so wonderful that somethings in the world can stay as they were from the era they started, which is very hard to find anymore. Just to put everything in a nut-shell, I have never forgotten the Beverly Laurel and hope it never ever changes!!! I know where to go if I am ever back in Los Angeles and will love the feeling of being back in the time of incense and peppermints! The Beverly Laurel is one of the last true vintage jewels of a by-gone time, a time when the world was a much better place. I love the Beverly Laurel and the cool diner, I hope you will too!

Great value, a bit tired but clean

Stayed there over President's Day week in Feb, 2008, paid under 100/night for room with 2 queen beds with AAA discount. The front desk told me they also have a few larger rooms. The room had a microwave and a small refrigerator that smelled, but did work.

The place is in an outstanding location, as many others have noted, very near Farmers Market/Grove, CBS Studios, Beverly Hills, Beverly Center, Cedars Sinai Medical Center, etc.

Our room was very clean, well lit and the beds comfortable, though the furnishings were a bit tired and a remodel of the bathroom would not hurt. We had no real issues that needed attention so I can't comment on the service, though the front desk was friendly. They have a small restaurant on the premises -- we only had breakfast there but it was pretty good. It is apparently pretty hopping on a Saturday night.

Two other things are worth noting:
1. The pool is tiny and won't get much sun -- it's not something you'll especially want to sun bath next next to, IMO, and I don't think it would satisfy kids.

2. Parking -- they have an underground lot that is extremely tight. Although I did see vans and SUVs parked there, I would be leery of bringing a large vehicle into the underground lot. They also have covered parking stalls under the building (entrance via the alley) -- these are also somewhat tight to park in and some (not all) require you to go over a sort of hump that actually scraped the chassis of my rental car, a Dodge Avenger (no visible damage, but I backed out and parked in another stall). Street parking is available but has restrictions.

I can't forget their kindness.

10 years ago, I often stayed there for job from japan every month for 5-14days.
the owner was so friendly and took care for me.
the location is just 5minutes from beverly center, and convenience to drive around LA.
but quiet at night.
the room was not new but very clean.
besides, they have a various different interior of each room.
big pool in patio, "Swinger", a cafe at 1st floor was also very nice.
so there was many people at the cafe on weekend.
I loved blue cheese salad and hot chili sausage.
try it!

Let's do the time warp again

I read these reviews before staying there. The place is like stepping back into the Sixties. It's not a new, modern upscale hotel. Yet, the room was quite acceptable, clean and comfortable. There was absolutely no problems whatsoever associated with the parking garage. The restaurant downstairs was great. My only complaints were: 1) the crappy little TV set in the room. Of course, I wasn't there to watch TV, however, something better (with better cable reception on certain channels which were unwatchable) would have been nice to have on when I wanted TV. And 2) the low height of the showerhead. I was told rooms are being renovated and among the renovations is the raising of the showerheads to a level befitting someone other than a jockey.

Of course, with the 10% AAA discount a king room for under a hundred bucks just is not found in this area.

If and when we return to that area, we would not hesitate to stay there again
