Its the (big) little things

I knew I was in for a disappointing experience when we walked in our room and my wife (who happens to watch any and every show on hotel's and the cleaning practices of its employees) informed me that our comforter had an unidentified brown object on it. Housekeeping removed the blanket after informing my wife that it would be returned after being washed.
The employee disclosed that the comforter (like many other things in the hotel) are rarely replaced during peak seasons- I'm still unsure if I should be happy or upset about the employee sharins this information so candidly.

Less than an hour later our bathtub was clogged after two people showered. The front desk was called, maintenance arrived- claiming the problem was taken care of after working for 20 minutes..........not the case.......I had to call the front desk a second time to have the same problem repaired. Did I mention that during this time we had already waited an hour for two towels because we had to use the towels in the room to stop the leaking toilet. Later on that night while preparing for bed my wife noticed water leaking from the vent in the bedroom.

Three other issues that I have with this hotel are the elevators- it's baffling to me how an establishment can have 16 floors per wing with only two elevators per wing (are you kidding me), and the worker at the front desk did not know what floors had working ice machines (two of the machines I discovered were not working after she instructed me to go to these floors for ice).

The only thing that salvaged this experience was the view (of the beach), location (in conjuction with the beach), and the numerous activtities for the children.

I will not return to this hotel and would recommend that others proceed with caution; I recognize that my experience may be unique but I have this strange suspicion that I am not that special.

Vacation Salvaged!

After a horrible ordeal with the Monster Group Vacations, I took control of my vacation soon becoming a disaster. The people at the Beach Cove were very sympathetic and accomodating. It was more than I had budgeted for. Almost three time more, but it was on the beach, included breakfasts and was safe and clean. Management and support staff bent over backwards to help right wrongs despite the constant onslaught of people arriving and departing. Special thanks to Abby (frontdesk)

Nice, but we will not Return...

Lets start off with what I liked: Convient Location, Clean Rooms, Nice Pool Deck, many pools for the kids to chose from, nice tiki bar.
Now the things I disliked: There are no carts to take your luggage to your room because people tend to keep them in their rooms so good luck getting your luggage up to your room because you will wait 15 minutes for an elevator and when it does decided to come it will be packed with people so hit the button again and wait another 15 minutes. Also there are signs that say " No Reserving of Beach Chair" HAHAHA this is not enforced. Set your alarm clock for 6am because if you dont go put a towel on a chair that early you wont get a chair. The people that do put a towel on the chair dont come and even lay on the chair for hours later in the day.
The front desk workers were rude and even ignored us as we were talking to them and acted as if they couldnt hear us.
So overall the hotel was nice, but the lack of luggage carriers, no pool chairs, and not getting an elevator will be the reason we do not return to this hotel. It sure is a shame because the hotel is very nice but we wasted half of our vacation waiting for an elevator. We were on the top floor "16th floor" and we were unable to have a luggage carrier or get on an elevator so we carried all of our luggage up 16 flights of stairs and it took us 5 trips and when we went to complain to the desk they ignored us.
The music at the pool deck was nice, the tiki bar was convient if you didnt want to have to run back up to your room to get something to eat or drink, and overall the hotel is clean.

Wanted to leave the first day

The location, though one of the best, did not compensate for the size and accomodations. The front desk had both cordial and nasty people working. Of course at check in they were pleasant, but on the second day when I inquired why their advertized Javatini coffee shop and piano bar were not open, the girl at the reception desk nastily said--"The are only open on weekends!" This was not as advertised on their website's homepage. I feel it was false advertising and promotion tactics. I did like the Tiki Bar close to the beach. The pool area was beautifully decorated but unless you get up at 7:00 AM, you will not get a chair. People tend to "Reserve" them!!! The gift shop is a bonus and the lady who runs it is a real gem. But if you want the amenities I mentioned as they advertise--skip this one. There are many places we have stayed and got more for our money.

Not what we expected

We loved the location of this resort, but the rooms are so outdated. The entire week that we were there, dirty dishes sat outside one of the rooms on the 3rd floor. It was still there when we left. The housekeepers are young and rude. The manager allows guests to run to the pool at 8:00 a.m. and put towels on every chair so that they are reserved. Some of those guests don't actually come out to the pool until late, late afternoon. So, no chairs for the other guests throughout the entire day. How unfair!!! Overall, the resort is overrated. They need to hire a good interior decorator!!!!! We won't go back even though we loved the location. Slowest elevators we've ever seen. Great breakfast buffet, and the restaurant staff is wonderful!!

what a wonderful week

The location was perfect you could hear the waves all night. It was easy to get to restaurants and attractions. The employees were all very helpful and friendly. Our 3 bedroom condo was kept clean and serviced every day. It provided everything we needed. For families and golf groups I highly recommend the Beach Cove has one of the nicest resorts in myrtle Beach.

My Husband and I have been going to The Beach Cove for over 15 years! At least twice a year, and have been happy with our stay every time! We are disabled and the parking is easy check in easy, always clean and comfortable! We will continue to go there every chance we get. There is nothing we dislike about it!
Always a great vacation.

Mixed Feelings

The location is Great and the parking as well. Rooms where pretty clean. Pools were nice however my kids said the water felt nasty (think there was lots of sunscreen in the water). Very beautiful landscaping. Beach access was wonderful. Nice to be able to rinse off before entering pool area (did see someone wash there beach chair and sandles in the Lazy River). Lazy River was nice if security would enforce the rules. To many people taking a swin for people who wanted to float around the river area. Pools need a diving area. Kids jumping into the pool and keeping you wet can get old. Finally had to move to different spot in order to dry out. Over all the pool area is nice.

Most guest were nice. Teenages left to run with no supervision is not good. My 8 year old child was almost slammed in the round door by a teenage girl who had been starved for attention the entire time we were there. Child was one step behind me and the girls just pushed the door while she was walking behind me. Had I not been quick to react to stop the door this could have been very bad. Could dislocate a shoulder very easy or even break!

Room service was not good! Put our card in the door for our room to be cleaned while we were out and all they did was empty the trash. No fresh towels, etc. They took what clean ones we had.

Had 6 people staying in the room and only had 4 pillows. Ask the front desk for more several times and never did get more pillows. Did not seem to bother them that 2 guest did not have a pillow. There were never clean towels by the pool. Plenty of dirty ones!!!!! On our checkout day, two different people entered our room with the hotel key twice before 10:00 am. Never knocked!!! Just walked in on us. Check out is at 11:00 am.

Game room had dirty cups all around and never anyone at the soda shop when I went in there. Machine took kids money and I had to sign for them to return $1.00 to my 15 year old. Need different games.

Bellman was very rude to my husband. Would not take his foot off of the cart to transport our belongs from room to car. Told him to find another one. Beware of Patrick the Jerk. We paid way to much money to be treated like that!

As for elevators.....take the steps. You will get there faster. Internet was ok.

Laundry room....was good but very hot.

Overall... We would not go back. We paid to much money for what we got!
