What a beautiful place

This inn was absolutely a dream come true. Everything about this inn is wonderful. The mansion is impressive, with a beautiful living room, dining room and piano room. The veranda overlooks a beautiful lawn and garden that takes you right to the ocean. The rooms were extremely comfortable and lovely. Our room had an amazing ocean view with a deck. Definitely stay at this inn when in Bar Harbor. It's within walking distance from the shops but tucked away for tranquility and privacy.

Friendly staff, great location, perfect visit

The Balance Rock Inn has everything that any reasonable person could ask for. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It is one of the few places to stay which is right in town and on the water, and a short drive to Acadia. The atmosphere is comfortable, relaxed and cozy. If you travel with dogs as we do, they are treated as part of your family (welcomed, not just tolerated). Anyone looking for high quality and a low pretentious factor will value what they have to offer.

HOME AWAY FROM HOME

From the moment you enter the front door you are swept away by the view and the wonderful staff makes you feel like you have come home from a long trip. The Inn is beautiful, rooms very comfortable, but the staff (Mike, Sherry, Sergio, Etc.) make the Inn. They are helpful, polite and willingly assist with any problem you have, from dog sitting, making reservation, giving you a bright and happy smile. All the staff go out of their way to assist their quests. I love The Balance Rock and plan on staying their whenever I am in Bar Harbor.

Great location

It is overlooking the water, close to town, and somewhat private. Nice size Inn, not too big, not too small. I would stay here again. We took our breakfast out on the porch each morning, great view looking out over the bay. Tea and snack was served every afternoon. And there was an informal bar outside by the patio and pool which was a nice touch for a small inn. The only downside for me is they did not serve red wine by the glass, only by the bottle. Friendly and attentive staff.

tour of the north east.

We started by visiting the lodge in Lake George, NY then through Lake Champlain to Burlington Vt, on to Bar Harbor and Balance Rock, home by way of Mystic Seaport. Beautiful trip. The Inn at Balance Rock was wonderful, the food superb, the room beautiful. We extended our trip and moved into a suite for a few days. The Margaret Todd and the shore path will stay with us forever. If you have seen the sun from the back side of Cadillac Mountain you will know why we return.

Beautiful Place/Location

There is not one thing that we did like about this Bed & Breakfast, from the moment we got there we were taken care of. My husband, myself and my parents all stayed and every one of us agreed that you couldn't ask for a better place to stay. The service was great without someone being on top of you the whole time, the rooms were beautiful and had that old-time feel to them, and the setting/view/location was ultimate. And to top it all off, it was a very short walk to everything in Bar Harbor. We loved taking our breakfast out to the veranda in the mornings to eat. FYI: They are sooo dog friendly and we loved that!

Best kept secret

There is no better location in Bar Harbor. The inn is on a quiet street, but less than a block from all the tourist traps lining Main Street. It is located just off the central Village Square. The view off the veranda is beyond expectation. THe grounds are beautiful. The pool is heated and comfortable. You might just want to chill at the Inn and not even bother with Acadia! (that would be a mistake though). AND they LOVE dogs- there were at least 4 others there while we were staying there. It is expensive, but keeps the bargain hunters at bay. If you are fortunate enough to be able to afford it, you will hit the jackpot in Bar Harbor...and probably re-book for the following year

Balanced Rock Inn Is A Noise Castle.

If you like Inns and B&B's with "thin walls", this is the place for you. Our four-day stay was like living in a "bass drum"!! Slamming doors and bathrooms with flushing toilets on both sides, and above!!

Further, the desk is only managed by Sherry at certain times (she is great), but the other help SUCKS!!!

No smile, no graciousness, and especially a total lack of hospitality!! In wet hair!! NO CLASS.

Michael and Sherry are great, but the building is not conducive to peaceful sleep, and if you want amenities, better search for a different venue.
