Meets 3 star expectations.Way too expensive. I understand the summer price in Anchorage go crazy; but there should be some allowance for AK residents.“Hotel is too expensive in summer. Due to work I needed one hour late check out and they would not grant me one hour. The maids couldn't get to all of the rooms on that floor in that short time frame.”

room next to the ice/coke machine

We stayed in the downtown Anchorage Marriott at the end of our Alaska cruise/landtour on June 25, 2008.
Our room was next to the ice/coke machine room. We woke up several times during the night because of the awful noise the machines made.
When I complained to the reception desk the next morning, the manger in charge told me that I was the first client who complained. This is probably the standard answer they giuve to all their clients who complain about the noise. The manager did not offer any apologizes, nor that she offer any compensation of any kind for a bad night.

The message is clear: if you want a quiet sleep in the downtown Marriott insist on having a room as far away from the icemachines as possible.

After I got the cold shoulder from the manager in charge, I will not stay in any Marriott.

AVOID downtown Marriot -`pathetic.

I travel extensively all over the world and THIS MARRIOT stinks!

For their prices one would expect parking and internet! Oh no! If the very limited valet parking is full - Here you have to pay for AND find your own parking in the city somewhere and walk for badly lit street blocks at night back to the hotel - not a good idea if you are single. Then you have to be up at 6 am to move your vehicle - or get a ticket. You also have to pay for internet by the hour or day. The hotels movie channel and interactive system is bad. The staff on both occasions were unfriendly, inexperienced and/ or downrigt hostile. The rooms were sub-par to all the other in same price class hotels in downtown Anchorage. Avoid at all cost - If it is the only place available in Anchorage for the night - You'll know why!!!

The room was spacious and clean. No

The room was spacious and clean. No parking! $14 to valet park. Internet is not free.“I would not choose to stay at this hotel again. They do not have parking, you either have to try and find meter parking or valet for $14 every time you come and go but then when valet is full your only option is to find street parking, not an easy thing to do. Also, the hotel seems to pride itself on being for business travelers yet you have to pay for the internet. I don't think having free internet would break the bank.”

Our room at the Marriott overlooks the parking lot across the street. It has a comfortable king bed, chair, and desk. The Internet is not wireless. You need to connect via a port and I didn't bring my wires. I'm sure that there would be a charge anyway and I'm too cheap for that. The sun is still up at 9pm and we use the blackout drapes to darken the room enough to sleep. We arise at 6am. The sunlight streams in as the drapes are pulled aside. The sky never really went dark since this is the summer solstice. The farther north you get, the longer the days. The shower is warm and strong enough to rinse the shampoo from your hair with ease. The soaps are herbal scented and not too feminine for Hubby to use. He hates it when everything smells like flowers. We head down to the restaurant. They have a buffet breakfast where they will fix omelets for you. There is a limited menu of fillings, but enough that there is a choice. Mushroom and bacon go in mine. The eggs are cooked perfectly. I am so-o-o tired of runny scrambled eggs. Orange juice and coffee come with the buffet. Both are good. The juice is sweet and has just a little pulp while the coffee is strong enough to get me going.By 8am we are on the motorcoach with Wade and Cathy guiding us on our way to Denali.

It was great. The room was comfortable, especially after a long day of flying to get from the Midwest to Alaska. The central location was also very convenient to other downtown attractions and food delivery.
