When I arrived with my family I was shocked at the site of the inside of the hotel it was very dirty and stunk so before I checked in I went to the pool to have a look to my surprise I could barley see the bottom it was so cloudy. I went to the front desk and told them about the conversation I had w/ them prior to making a reservation and how they assured me how clean it was (they said sorry) I told them I was not going to check in and did not want be charged for anything (they said sorry we are still going to charge you for the first night) I did not check in they still billed me for the first night ($130.00) When I got home I called the headquarters and explained my situation (they said sorry and did nothing) STAY AWAY http://www.travelpost.com//hotels/Americas_Best_Value_Inn_Sandusky/r1147262 http://www.travelpost.com//hotels/Americas_Best_Value_Inn_Sandusky/r579866 On an overnight stay attending Cedar Point, this was the WORST Hotel. The rooms were not clean and the ENTIRE hotel smelled of MILDEW. When I inquired about the smell at the front desk, the clerk acted as if he didnt smell anything and said that they had recently had a lot of rain.... inside the hotel? Cigarette-burnt holes in comforter (non-smoking room). Cobwebs in each corner behind furniture. Lock for the rear entrance of the building broken (not secured). Shower not very clean. Large non-screened window open when we arrived at our first floor room. Booked room for four people, received only two washcloths and two towels. The haousekeeping does not do the best job @ staying on top of things. They seem to be unorganized. The housekeeping would show up early in the morning, or not @ all. They never once restocked coffee, tisues, toilet paper, & never once changed our trashcans. There were french fries around our bed on the floor. The bedspreads were gross & the carpet was filthy. Pool was had too much chlorine in it. Our eyes were burning for hours. Despite all these things I would still stay there again.The location was awesome. Their restaurant was good also. Somebody left a bag of souvenirs im window sill, along with dead and LIVE bugs. No mattress pad on beds, linens were thin, torn and had somebody else's hair on them. Front desk was rude, couldn't be bothered. Hotel overbooked and clerk was "too busy trying to get these other people in to other hotels so I don't get yelled at" to get what we needed. The room kind of smelled not too bad but I did get air freshener to help. There were dead ants in the bathroom but the were dead or dying. So I managed.
