our first time to this boutique hotel and what a great experience. All staff was friendly from the front desk people to the maintanance staff we saw in the elevator. Great value considering the "happy hour" from 5:30 to 7:00. Signature martini's are

The Amalfi is REALLY Romantic

pros: Romantic, Friendly, Great Location, Free WifiMy boyfriend and I just needed a quick getaway and some alone time together. We hadn't stayed at the Amalfi before but heard good things about it so we decided to give it a try. We REALLY lucked out - this hotel is GREAT! They had just finished with a renovation of their lobby. I don't know what the lobby looked like before but it looks really great. My boyfriend was staring at this wavy wall the entire time while I checked us into the hotel. The free breakfast & food and drinks and night were a nice touch and helped us out when it came to our budget. Love the Amalfitini! Would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

Husband & I visited for long weekend and we really enjoyed this hotel! The cocktail hour at night was a great addition and a nice place to relax before heading out for the night. You may want to get there early because the room is kinda small and gets crowded early. Rooms nice and hotel is pretty convenient to most things. We will definately stay here again when visiting Chicago.

Check in delayed by 2 hours because of late check outs (which they charge extra for). No compensation offered to me while checking in on time. Package left at front desk never delivered. Had to be mailed days later. Room was clean and fresh looking. Employees were presentable (even though they sit wearing their winter coats because the huge sliding glass doors let in blasts of chilling chicago air every 5 seconds). Breakfast at elevator lobby was great. No paper at door in morning. Free DVD rentals at front desk was nice touch. Didn't see an ice machine on my floor. Boutique prices for standard service. Overall disappointment from what I was expecting.

The Amalfie was a nice surprise. I was a little disappointed that it wasn't as close to Michigan Avenue as their website indicated, however it was very clean, classic decor and the conciege was extremely helpful - in fact both that we dealt with went out of their way to make our stay a good one. The hotel is right in the middle of the State Street area of shopping and just steps from several very good restaurants. I would stay again and I would recommend it anyone wanting to go to the city for a long weekend of shopping and nightlife.

My 3 night stay was fabulous. The Amalfi is very similar to The W, but more intimate and economical. The staff is extremely helpful & friendly. Nice size room, comfy bed and linens, wonderful Aveda products. A very nice continental breakfast and a wonderful cocktail hour.
Close to all the great things to see and do. I was pleasantly surprised- would definitely stay again.

The hotel was wonderful. Centrally located, one block from the Magnificent Mile and directly across the street from Harry Carey's! The breakfast in the morning was perfect. Plenty to eat. Cocktail hour was the best. They had all the premium choice liquors? to choose from, along with some very delicious appetizers. Comfortable bed and a very roomy bathroom. We will definitely stay here again.

I suppose if I were there on business I would stay at this hotel. But for vacation...our view was the top of the building across the street and construction. There isn't a pool or a restaurant in the building. They do offer room service through their partnership with Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse, but the cost is astronomical. The House of Blues is just around the corner, that's good. The hotel staff were friendly. The room didn't get quite cool enough, and it was small.

I was expecting phenominal customer

I was expecting phenominal customer service from the hotel staff by the way the hotels website goes on an on about it but instead received rather mediocre service. The telephones in the room did not work so we were forced to walk down to the lobby anytime we needed anything or had any questions. Our remote control did not work and it took them two days to provide us with a new one. Also, the restaurant they use for room service is TERRIBLE. Our food was beyond burned and incredibly overpriced. On the plus side - the rooms were nice, the hotel is in a nice location and the daily breakfast and happy hour were nice to have. I would stay again but will stay away from room service and hope that the front desk is a little more accomodating next time.
