After a missed flight across the country, the staff were extremely respectful of the possibility of a cancellation and upon arrival were eager to make my trip to Seattle relaxing. Great recommendations on local places to get some food at 11pm, and h

The noisiest hotel I've ever stayed in

The noisiest hotel I've ever stayed in due to being right next to a main road and old 'warehouse' inherited windows. LOVED the decor tho and breakfast style, but didn't get a wink (even with the free ear plugs). Website said they were full when we tried to book, but just turned-up anyway and they fitted us in. 10 out of 10 for that. Very HIP and BRILLIANT location for walking to downtown for a Starbucks.

Change rooms if you don't like the first....

Ace hotel was pretty much what I read it would be, but I hadn't anticipated a few issues that bothered me a lot more than I would have expected.

1) noise, noise. I listened homeless guys argue one night for hours, and was awakened twice by the sounds of garbage? trucks tipping a dumpster or something. But the constant noise comes from the fact that the hotel is on a hill and trucks must rev their engines to climb it. That is really noisy. The windows are THIN, residential type.

2) smell in room. I had a distinctly musty and dog-like smell in my room. I couldn't quite figure out where it was from.

3) Really lumpy, cheap mattress.

4) No air circulation, unless you open the windows. ceiling fans would have rocked!

5) A ridiculous lack of hangers, hooks, etc. C'mon this was just silly. Put one on the back of the door, and perhaps a few other places so we can hang up our shirts.

6) Plug-ins are hard to reach (minor gripe)

Positives include...

a) great staff - friendly and helpful.
b) price - it cost

Budget on so many levels

I felt it was not particularly clean. Design element was good but the whole place felt like it was done up on the cheap. Definitely not worth the money.

Location is superb (Belltown is great) and so was the front desk staff. They were very helpful.

2 people for ++$200/night? Never again.

good, but a little pricey

the interior design and some of the amenities were great design but for the price should be at least a bath tub. ask for a room with artwork on the walls.

DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE

The pictures don't give you the right representation of the rooms. The rooms are very, very tiny. The bathroom sink is next to the bed. Most rooms don't have a closet and when they say yes, this room has one..... don't believe them!!!! It's a tiny little crevice they call a closet. The rooms facing the street are very noisy because the windows are so old and loose. It feels like there is no window there. It lets all the noise in. You think $95 how bad can it be? Trust me.... it's bad!! NEVER AGAIN.

This was truly a shock...we arrived

This was truly a shock...we arrived late off Amtrak...and were greeted by a very busy bar...the hotel gives you free earplugs. I was praying there was another Ace Hotel in Seattle...but we were not that lucky. This should be called the Ace Hostel. They tell you there is a full breakfast included...ok...if a full breakfast is granola and Kirkland (Costco) yogurt...then enjoy your full breakfast. The bedding was horrible...really unbelievable. Words do not describe this experience. There is no pictures because they don't want you to see it. We paid $* and it should not have been more than $*. If you enjoy the Motel 6...then you will enjoy this place. Except you won't have a private bathroom and it isn't as nice. We had to go ask for a hair drier...and we were happy we only booked one night.

The Ace Hotel is a fun place to stay.

The Ace Hotel is a fun place to stay. Ultra Modern decor is their signature, with most walls, floors, and ceilings being a stark white, with white and natural accent pieces to give it a minimalist modern feel. Our room was nice, if a little small, but not bad overall. The bathrooms were across the hall, there were plenty of them to choose from, so they never filled up. It's in a great neighborhood with great food/nightlife, and close to everything. It's definitely worth staying there for 1 or 2 nights during your trip, very budget friendly.

I will never stay at the Ace

I had heard good things about the Ace hotel, and was told that was where I should stay while in Portland OR- the weekend of Jan 12th 2007. I looked online for the Portland and couldnt find one, so I called the Ace here in Seattle WA, and specifically stated that I would like to book a room in Portland, for the weekend...I know I said I was going to Portland for my birthday a couple times so I do not understand why they allowed me to book for that location....as it is not even open yet!!
Upon arriving in Portland and asking the taxi driver to take me to the Ace Hotel, imagine his confusion...and mine.
I ended up staying across the street from the Ace Hotel that I thought I had booked a room--The renovation is still under construction!!
Upon my return in Seattle I called the manager of the Ace here in Seattle to make sure I was not charged for a no-show...He didnt seem to care that whomever took my reservation failed to tell me that I was booking in Seattle and not Portland. The manager informed me that there was nothing he could do and I had already been charged the $92.48 fee for a no show!
I feel that it was their mistake as I stated several times that I was booking in Portland and not Seattle.
Because of this I will Never stay at an Ace Hotel, or reccommend anyone to them!!

It Ain't The Sheraton...

pros: Continental Breakfast til noon, cool decor, low priceAnd really. I think that's a good thing. This is not a generic chain. It's a unique, budget hotel. The decor is interesting, but might seem a bit flimsy. I loved this place, it was centrally located (if you have issues with homeless people, you may want to avoid Belltown, where the hotel is located), reasonably priced and they serve continental breakfast until noon! Honestly, we didn't spend that much time hanging out in our hotel room, and it wouldn't have been all that comfortable if we had due to it's small size. It was a very comfortable place to sleep and regroup. We had a deluxe room with our own bathroom, it was austere, but wholly accomadating. I did notice that the shared bathrooms looked perfectly acceptable, and we could have saved even more money if we had stayed in one of those rooms. Parking was something of a pain, there is a pay lot two blocks down the street, you can purchase 24 hour passes for $17. It is a bit inconvenient to have to drag your luggage up First Avenue at 9:00 on a Friday night... The wifi in the rooms was really convenient though...
The staff is somewhat hipsterish, but they were very sweet and accomadating to us. The Ace is a great deal, but if you're expecting the Embassy Suites, you might want to stay somewhere else.
