We pulled out the calendar and noticed we have been lollygagging around here while time marches on. Very painfully we will have to cut some destinations. Bolivia was a surprise for us. We hadn't expected such a great place and thought we could explore every nook and cranny while still having long breakfasts and gazing into each others eyes while listening to CNN International Edition.
Well, we can't. We cut La Paz and \Cochabamba and are going straight to Copacabana-the destination for Lake Titicaca, the highest lake in the world. Just hope Jojo has acclimated because Lake Titicaca is at an elevation of 12507 feet (3812 meters).
Today's task was to check out a bus for tomorrow night. But first --lunch. We went to our new friend's Hong Kong restaurant and had his daily special lunch. Just like Hong Kong, only different. But, good.
None of our maps include the bus station because it is away from the center of the city, but the guide book had an arrow pointing the general direction off the map. Good enough. Unfortunately the arrow didn't show the angle of that direction. Up. After our big lunch that wasn't wonderful.
Luckily the locals are very helpful. Except one, almost. We had been heading up for awhile and we wanted reassurance so we asked this man where the bus station was. He pointed downhill. No, the LONG DISTANCE bus station. He looked down hill then pointed uphill and said 4 blocks. Thanks.
This is the first city in Bolivia that had a terminal. It made it easy to shop. We ended up with a bus that has only 3 seats across instead of 4 and has full beds instead of 'semi'. Greyhound was never like this.
We spent the rest of the day walking around trying not to miss anything.
Ciao
