Plaza 9 de Julio - where the action is
About the only thing I can say about the trip up here is that here we are. The only thing that we can write about was Joe got a tough steak and a dull knife on the included dinner on our trip. Jojo was fine.
We didn't really know what to expect in Salta except their empanadas are different. It's a big destination for South Americans and Europeans. Haven't seen any Americans.
Turns out there is more to do then we expected. The guidebook touts a 'train to the clouds' going beside breathtaking valleys and over bridges that are engineering marvels. But they are closed for the season (Nov 1 - drat). The tourist office said that was a good thing. It is overpriced, slow and very confining, with no stops to get out and look around.
So tomorrow 'THE BUS TO THE CLOUDS'. Much cheaper, guided in English (quality to be announced), stops for pictures, stretches, nature's calls or whatever. PLUS instead of out and back we make a circuit through some salt flats and maybe some surprises (surprises to Joe anyway since there was a lot of background noise and his Spanish is not very good). We start at 7 in the AM and come back at 9 PM. Lucky we're tired from the bus. It will be easy to go to bed early.
Like now.
Good night.
Copy and paste this link for photos from San Antonio and the area around here. Note: In Salinas, that is not snow..it is salt. If a lot of the text doesn't show, I suspect it is Chinese. But the pictures are captioned. Now, Good night.
