Left Bora Bora Oct.19 for 3-days at sea before arriving at Christmas Island (Kirimati Atoll). Only the second time a cruise ship has been here. We anchored in the bay and were tendered to port. The tenders had to navigate through the shallow reefs to the docks. We spent the day wandering the beaches and snorkling before heading back to the ship. On our return tender, the crew didn't follow the bouys back and we ended up grounded on a reef. The inexperience of the crew tried to power over the reef only to get us stuck further. The ship sent another tender out to 'rescue' us. They couldn't pull us back into deeper water. They had officers and crew in the water to try and move us with still no sucess. Most of the male passengers on the tender also got into the water to lighten the boat and to push it back into deeper water. We finally made it back to the ship for dinner.
