Safety Officer Coming Back to Tell Us We Couldn't Land
The first time I was here (2000) the sun was shining, the mountains and snow sparkled and the penguins were... penguiny... This time it was cloudy, windy and we were unable to go ashore--due to the strong winds. When more wind is predicted the ship is at risk--due to wind pushing ice around and making it difficult to maneuver the ship. We did see some orca whales very close though.
