We decided to stay outside of Salt Lake City and found a nice RV park in Ogden, Ut which is about 30 miles north of Salt Lake City. We went into Temple Square in the heart of the city on Saturday. We were hoping to make the organ recital but as usual we managed to miss it by a few minutes. Downtown Salt Lake City is very pretty and so clean. Temple square was full of brides when we arrived. On every corner was a different bride and wedding party posing and taking pictures. We went to the visitors center to find out what buildings were open to the public. We managed to pick up a short guided tour which really seemed to be more of a religious recruitment. The two young ladies who led our tour were from Brazil and Mexico doing missionary work for the church for 18 months. We saw the “Christus” statue and toured the original Assembly Hall. Our timing was bad again when it came to seeing the Tabernacle since it is closed for remodeling for the next year.
Otherwise, we took a short drive through Ogden and had a nice lunch at a little Greek restaurant. We also went into the mountains looking for several of the more well known ski resorts. The map was bad and we missed them all but did find a trappest mission off the beaten path.
