pulling out of my grandparents house
So, here I am in NC!
My trip got underway bright and early back in philly. Somehow, I managed to avoid the teary goodbye, but my family didn't quite make it. They were pretty sad this morning. Understandably. But for me, this trip is more exciting than sad, despite all the good things I did leave behind. Most notably, all of you!!! But I am so excited to be heading to Texas to essentially start over that I was mostly smiles.
So, off I went, and what a gorgeous day to be driving. My entire trip....blue skies, sunshine, and not a cloud in the sky! It was like the south was saying 'here it is...all this southern greatness...now come after it.' It was amazing. I did have to pinch myself a couple of times. I've been thinking about this for so long that to be finally doing it was very surreal.
It was a mostly uneventful journey. There was some light traffic in DC, but more from construction than anything else. I did have to stop my ipod and put on dave matthews when i passed the sign for charlottesville, VA. (that's where they are from, if you don't know) haha...i'm such a nerd. I also love the change in sport team logos on cars as you drive. it went from eagles to ravens to redskins, and now to panthers. pretty funny to watch.
Scariest things i saw today....a van that said 'inmate transport'....yikes. and a 16 wheeler that got behind me with a confedearate flag on it's grill. double yikes. I can't believe those things aren't outlawed yet.
Anyways, I made great time with only 2 brief stops, and pulled into Raleigh right around 2:30. My first time back to NC in three years. last time i was here was (big surprise) to see dave matthews and tim reynolds. anyways...seems the same, except now they have proud signs of their stanley cup victory. redneck hockey...gotta love it.
So, here I am with my two good friends mike and nicole, and their GORGEOUS house, and 2 lovely huskies Czar and Sophie. We're gonna kick it on the deck, (it is PERFECT weather here today) grill some food, have some beers, and enjoy a monday night football game without all the annoying eagles chants. life is good.
on to the mouse house tomorrow.....till then!!!!
