Every year the population of Lake Lure celebrates the beginning of the Christmas season with an evening parade of decorated boats.
Folks gather at the Lake Lure beach as the evening ends with a flourish of fireworks.
Best of all, it's free, courtesy of the members of the Hickory Nut Gorge Chamber of Commerce.
