My wife and I drove up to Charlotte from Atlanta for a short weekend trip. We stayed at the Hyatt near the South Park Mall. The weekend rate at the Hyatt were fairly decent and we indulged ourselves by eating out at some of the really good restaurants in the South Park area. During the day, we went Downtown or Uptown as they call it in Charlotte. I love architecture and Charlotte has easily the best variety of tall buildings for a metro area its size (about 1.5 million spread out over several counties.)
The science museum is top notch. There is a bus system that looks like trolleys that have designated routes in uptown Charlotte and they are extremely helpful in getting around what is quite a spread out downtown.
Any one who has the chance to visit Charlotte should not pass it up.
