Vanisles icon Honolulu, Hawaii - Banzai Pipeline-North Shore

Honolulu, Hawaii
5 Stars  This place was Amazing
The North Shore
It's Thanksgiving day in Honolulu and most things are closed (Pearl Harbour, Cultural Center, Haanama Bay,etc). so we caught the Circle Island public transit bus for $2 and headed out to Turtle Bay Resort for the day on the beach. It's a beautiful resort with a sheltered bay for swimming & snorkling and an exposed beach for the surfers. A great way to relax and spend the day.

That night we had to pack and leave our luggage out to be collected for disembarkation. In the morning it's time for the last breakfast before being hustled into another holding pen to get off the ship. This went very smooth for a change. We picked up our luggage and headed into another line to catch the airport shuttle. We discovered if we hired a luggage porter, he would escort us to the front of the line and onto the next bus saving us about an hour. Money well spent!

We got to the airport and caught the rental car shuttle and rented a car for the day so we had a place to store our luggage before our 9:00pm check-in. So it's back out to the North Shore to the famous Banzai Pipeline where the powerful surf was amazing. We didn't want to go into the water because we didn't have a room to go to to get cleaned up before our flight but the ocean came to us a couple of times unexpectedly. We thought we were far enough up the beach to worry! oh well, it was still a great way to finish up a great holiday!
