icon Atlanta, Georgia - Six Flags Over Georgia

Six Flags Over Georgia
We woke up at 7.30 to get ready and leave with Jan to meet the Thelen kids (who so graciously invited us) at the AV office, for Six Flags. We got there and sorted out tickets and waited for some more people then went in at about 10.30am.

The first ride we went on was the Goliath with had 6 camelbacks (points which make you weightless). Christie and I made the mistake and good choice of wearing havis (flip flops). So on this ride we had to take them off, but that’s ok because it’s more scary and it also cooled my feet off (I get hot/sweaty feet). On all rides that had a foot well of some sort we had to wear shoes, which for one ride it sucked (The Scorcher which we did next), but most of them our feet were dangling so we could take flip flops off. After that we did and old rickety ride that did more damage than scares. 4th ride was Acrophobia. It was like the Giant Drop but not as high and the seats were leaning forward so when you’re dropped you facing the ground. (I loved that ride and did it again, but let it be known that Christie didn’t go on it, not even once, she was a bit scared of it. I hate dropping rides because I hate sitting up there waiting-I don’t even go on the Giant Drop at Dreamworld-Christie). 5th ride was The Ninja, which was worse that the old rides and it was fairly new, I had a headache that night and the next day from it. Anyway we did bumper cars than another old ride than a water ride then Batman. The Batman ride is like Lethal weapon at Movieworld but faster, more turns and twists and better. After that we had lunch, which comprised of ham and cheese sandwiches with 2 bottles of Gatorade.

After lunch we went back to Mammoth Falls, (we had planned to do before lunch but couldn’t be bothered waiting 30 minutes) and had to wait almost an hour. Right as we got to the ‘loading bay’ to get on the raft they had to do inspection on the boats, which meant we had to wait another 20 minutes aargh! The ride was worth the wait though. Miles and I ended up the wettest. It was as if I had gone and jumped into a swimming pool with all my clothes on, I was drenched from head to toe. Luckily Christie and I decided to put our bathers (swimsuit/togs) on so we could go to the water park. We ended up queuing for a rollercoaster called Déjà vu, it’s a boomerang style and we queued for almost an hour, once again worth the wait, instead of going to the water park. This ride was actually half scary. I find it amazing I’m not scared of any rollercoaster/rides anymore, but am afraid of heights, where as Christie isn’t afraid of heights but can’t handle the drop type rides. Think I’d go on any rollercoaster these days. Mrs Thelen allowed us to stay til park closing time which meant we could go do our favourite rides a couple more times as no one stays around after five oddly enough.

We arrived back at the AV office (I was still wet) and Brandon was waiting for us to take us over to dinner with some friends. By then the top third of me had dried and the bottom third but not the middle third. We had a nice time and Clare rang us because our mean parents keep forgetting to ring her (their mean coz’ they wouldn’t drop us off or pick us up at the AV office and the Vallorani’s ended up doing it, but we forgave them). We were able to pull Dad away by about 9pm (world record) and get back in time to watch a movie on the Brandon’s massive flat screen. We watched funny enough Déjà vu, which is really good. Oh, then we went to bed, Christie and I were pooped. - Carla

Yeah! I am not the only one scared of heights. I used to go on Rollercoasters, but not for a long time, wouldn't be able to crawl into one. Heights I have never liked at all, but my reason goes back to very early days. Love Nanna and Grandad
