Arrived as a rescue worker for the Red Cross just in time to meet Hurricane Ivan head on. Not much left of the Civic Center where people were being sheltered. Place flooded. Afterwards, not a single city service. Drove around a bunch of downed power lines in a rented truck which I was almost accused of stealing. Lost my place to stay, my wallet, my watch, & had to make a trip to the hospital for lack of sleep. Ended up walking & thumbing a ride to Mobile Alabama despite a general consensus the only road there was totally whiped out. Quite an adventure.
