After two months of being on the road we are on our last 'leg' home... It's somewhat cloudy today and even though we're going to be riding the Florida Turnpike, we decided to hang our jackets again. We are both tanned and/or are red from all the sun - another day will be okay for us to make up for all the cool/cold weather we had out West.
We are continuing South on Hwy 441/27 through town of Micanopy; through Ocala; South on Hwy 301 through towns of Belleview; Summerfield and Wildwood to the Florida Turnpike. I must say that these towns have really grown in the past couple years and many traffic lights - a lot of traffic and it's not even 'the season'. So many new business's and complex's with many, many new homes.
Continued South on the Turnpike stopping at some of the Service Plaza's for gas and even a bite to eat. That's the reason why I like the Florida Turnpike is the ease in stopping for gas and the clean rest rooms.
A number of times it almost looked like it was going to rain as the sun really never came out most of the day. Normally when we've been gone for a number of months and we come home, we usually hit rain in the Stuart or Jupiter area - just enough to remind us that we are back home, laughing.
We exited the Turnpike in Palm Beach Gardens where we then turned East on PGA Blvd... There is no mistaking all the new construction and all the traffic once exiting. I can remember getting off in this same area after moving to Florida from Connecticut in 1986 - there was hardly any traffic and/or business's this far West. It was still all country even with the cows in the fields... Ahhh, the times and how they change... I'm ready to move to another state, seriously...
Other than that I can say I'm happy that we are back home so Mac can get to the VA and take the time to get better. In the meantime we have some business to take care of and plans to make. We both will be thinking of everyone at Americade in Lake George, New York as we had planned on being there the first week of June... Next year we'll be up there...
As Mac will most likely post, we rode a total of 7,069 miles on this trip giving us a grand total of 155,961 miles on the Sporty... Such an experience for both of us and I just love being the passenger...
This is my last post until we are on the road again, which we still plan on doing this year... Thanks to all of you for following us and watching out for us... Peggy (cubbear) And thanks, Mac, for everything...
