bye bye nose piercing & staging

Well, here I am in Miami, FL at our hotel where we've had what Peace Corps (PC) calls 'staging' for the past day and a half. It's been an indifferent experience for me--meaning not fantastic but not horrible. Turns out there are 57 or more of us going to the Dominican Republic. Some of the projects we all will be working on are health, youth development, community economic development, & water/sanitation. The group of us is very diverse and everyone has traveled a lot--not one person has not been out of the United States. I met a couple people from Wisconsin and another girl from Michigan. Tomorrow we leave for the DR at 10ish AM and start our 11-12 weeks of training. I'm really looking forward to getting to the DR :) We are a very energetic and unique bunch full of jokesters. Generally, it's been great! Wish I had more to say, but these past couple days have basically just been an orientation to what we should expect out of the next few months and years. Oh, and I took my nose piercing out before I left :( (sad face indeed) but that's the price one pays for Peace Corps.
