Key West, Florida - Beware of Cottage Rentals

Beware of Cottage Rentals: This place was Poor; 508 Bahamas St is in there somewhere

In 2006 we had a wonderful holiday In KW staying at the Southermost Hotel. We decided to return in 2007 and rent a cottage, Down Island Digs ($3,600/week) which turned into the worst sleep deprivation period we have ever experienced on holiday. Although the cottage was described as being in a residential area, you can make up your own mind from the pictures. The refrigeraion unit above the food store cycled every 2-5 minutes, 24 hours a day, with a start up sounding like a ships horn, that I swear I can still hear ringing in my ears. The delivery trucks arrive at 6am every morning (highest count was 8) and are literally yards from your bed. Twice a week the green dumpster in the picture is dropped (literally) at 4 in the morning. If you want a relaxing holiday do NOT stay at Down Island Digs, 508 Bahamas Street. The local Chamber of Commerce in Mallory Square have received numerous complaints regarding this property. The agents Vacation Homes of Key West were just not interested and have not replied to the complaint we submitted via the Chamber of Commerce or to our own e-mails. Beware!!!
