icon Daytona Beach, Florida - The Myth

by celind73

The Myth
2 Stars This place was Poor
In numerous American movies and TV-shows, young kids go to Florida for spring break to party. A few decades ago the in-spot was Fort Lauderdale. They got tired of the drunken kids. Daytona Beach jumped on the bandwagon and said 'We'll take them'. So, now the hot spot of the east is Daytona Beach. Accordingly, it has to be visited. Arriving there daytime is about as exciting as driving on Interstate 10. In other words, no visible action anywhere. The kids are probably asleep. Taking a closer look at the site, it turns out that they're - kids. Judging by the activities offered, the target market is high-school teenagers, not college students. Arcade halls, go-cart tracks, silly beach activities, water parks, etc. Although college students may at times - especially in a drunken condition - act silly and immature, this resembles Disneyland more than Partyland. Sure, we did not stay for the night action, but the only people to be found over the age of 20 we found - in the mirror. Therefore, with the reservation of being completely wrong, Daytona Beach as the hottest party spot must be written off as a myth.
