A beautiful day again, mostly clear, cool, but warm enough to not have to wear the heavy leather coats. First though, we stayed at a Quality Inn in Naples and I neglected to cover the costs, since we usually don’t get the bill until we check out. Motel was OK. We ate supper in the motel with Peggy’s son, Wayne, and while the food was OK, the portions left a lot to be desired. On the bill this morning was $5.70 State Tax and $2.85 City Tax. Over $8.00 in taxes for a one night stay. Don’t believe I’ll be visiting Naples again, but if I do I will at least avoid the City Tax by staying at a motel in the county. We left the hotel this morning at around 9:10 since we were in a crowded area and we wanted to allow all the locals until 9:00 to get to work. The route was simple, we just headed North on Highway 41 through Fort Myers, Sarasota and Bradenton and then joined Highway 19 & Interstate 275, a toll road for my first trip over the Skyline Bridge to St. Petersburg. It was a unique bridge, but we’ve been over better bridges. Off Interstate 275 and on to Highway 19 for the remaining trip through St. Petersburg and into Clearwater. This is one busy highway, most of the way with plenty of traffic, traffic lights, and 35 and 45 MPH speed limits. Into the Comfort Inn Motel at around 3:00PM after a beautiful ride of only 161 miles.
