This place was Amazing

Harbour cruise

San Diego was the place we stayed on the first night of our Contiki tour. From what we have seen, we enjoyed San Diego a lot more than L.A... It's a really beautiful city. We took a harbour cruise with the Contiki bunch and then went to Mexico for lunch (see the next journal entry!). We then headed back to our hotel in San Diego for the night.

We went to a really weird restaurant called Dick's Last Resort for dinner, where the wait staff were intentionally rude and yelled stuff at us... A concept we didn't quite understand. Everyone else in the tour then went out, while we went back to the hotel... It's great being underage all over again :(

The next day, we explored downtown San Diego. We went to a shopping centre - Horton Plaza - it was pretty cool. Balboa Park was the highlight of the day, though - a massive park that has heaps of museums, plus things like a Japanese Zen Friendship garden, which was really nice, and a little United Nations village that has buildings representing different countries. We also stopped at a place on Mission Beach called the Wavehouse Bar... This is probably the coolest place we've ever seen - it's Fishos but 1000X better!! There's an artificial wave with Hot surfer boys on it, and sand for the floor, and you can lie in hammocks while you drink... Excellent. There was a fun roller coaster carnival type thing, just like the movies....

That night, we managed to go out and get really drunk with everyone else, by taking a bottle of vodka with us that we bought in Mexico... We even got up and sang Spice Girls on karaoke. A very cheap way to do it, considering that the bar staff were giving us free soft drinks all night, which we then mixed ourselves.

The next day was fun... The bus left at 7.30 for an 8-hour drive to Phoenix... Our favourite...
