When we moved to southern California in October 1993, we wanted to see as much of the area as we could. A friend from the office lived in Pasadena and invited us to spend the day with her. We began at the Huntington Library, a wonderful museum and gardens. Then we went to Old Town-Pasadena, a lovely little community of shops and restaurants.
In the eight years that we lived in southern California, we never went to the Rose Parade as it required getting up at the crack of dawn to get there to get a seat. I had another friend at the office, though, who lived in Glendale and she helped put the flowers on one of the floats several years in a row. I guess even doing that requires knowing someone who knows someone. In southern California, it was definitely who you knew that got you places!
