Tucson, Arizona
5 Stars  This place was Amazing
Glad to report that both Brent and Mary seemed to be pleased to see us a day early. We set up camp in front of their lovely house in the north part of the Tucson area. We have not seen their house before because they moved into it on the same weekend that we moved into the fifth wheel for our trip. It’s really nice ... so we spent the evening just..hmmm... we must have spent it drinking cuz for the life of me, I cannot remember what we did that night. Anyway, the next day Jon and Carisa and Trae and Taylor (their girls) and Steve and Jacquelyn all showed up and were (or seemed to be) happy and surprised to see us... we also got to see some of Brent and Mary’s other friends that we have met a couple times, including John, who is always fun and great to talk to. It was a wonderful day. Brent cooked 4 turkeys, I think, and Carisa brought pies and there was tons of food and drink and WONDERFUL company. There was one down side to the day. At some point, someone broke into three or four of our cars, including our truck. They got my purse with credit cards, my full set of keys and all the other miscellaneous stuff we women keep in our purses.. They also got my camera... my wonderful little cannon camera. Marc has promised to buy me a new one. The good news is that they did not get Marc’s camera, which was also in the truck. I spent an hour cancelling credit cards and such, the cops were called and a report was made.. It was a hassle, but not a catastrophe.. At least we are in Arizona, so its easy to get my license replaced. And then it was right back to the party. Everyone spent the night and Jon made homemade chili and we had a big breakfast... it was soo great to see everyone again. We really missed spending time with people that we actually know and care about. It was time to find a RV Park since we were spending another couple of days in town, so we headed off to do that on Sat morning. Oh, I forgot to mention that on the way to Tucson we noticed that the brake fluid seemed to be leaking. Brent and Mary lent us a car and after we dumped the trailer at a park, we took the truck to a Goodyear in town and told them about just having had the master cylinder replaced. Rock (the guy’s name was Rock) was way cool and fixed the truck for us that day... we dropped off the car, said goodbye to the gang (they were headed back to Phoenix) and went back and did a ton of laundry. We usually save it for when we are in a nice park. The nicer RV parks usually have a nice laundry room too. The next day Marc took me to the Sonoran Desert Museum. It was wonderful. It is a combination botanical garden and wildlife zoo. We spent the entire day there. There was a raptor free flight exhibit. They have a group of Harris hawks. They are the only birds of prey that live in a family group (like wolves). It is a matriarachal society.. there is an alpha female and a beta male..there were 4 in this family and each one is one step further down the chain... anyway, they flew the entire family and since they live at this park, they did not have them on lines, nor were they trained, they just came out, flew around for a bit and hunted. It was very cool and Marc got some really nice pics (see dot photo). They also have a really cool humming bird exhibit, that is really a big outdoor room full of humming birds and humming bird plants... Anyway, it was a great day there and then we met Brent and Mary and Mary’s aunt Nan and her husband Steve for dinner at a cool steak place..then, back to trailer and off to Phoenix in the morning
