This place was Amazing

Things did not start out well... we went to the park in Mesa that we called the night before and double checked that they would let us in even tho we were not 55... so when we got there, they told us we needed to be 55 to stay there. The only other place we could find was way north of town and a really long drive. Oh, did I mention that Marc had a dentist apt early the next morning... so, Marc found us a place to stay, and we got up at the crack of dawn, drove to Tempe, got set up at the park then drove to the motor vehicle dept and got me a new drivers license (remember, my purse got swiped) and headed to the dentist. No surprise, he needed a crown... our dentist is really nice, she reorganized a few things and had him back there by 1:30 to fit him... I did a bit of shopping while that was happening.... finally wore out my favorite pair of jeans. But I got to spend a couple of lovely hours at a Ross... funny the things you miss on the road... I also had a wonderful 45 minutes at Trader Joes.... yum! Anyway, then we had to go see Eric... Eric works/owns Lewis Hitches... and Eric was going to build us a custom rack to put over the cab and front end of the truck so Marc can park his ATV’s up there. Marc has been talking about buying a quad for the last couple of months or longer... finally, he decided to bite the bullet... so, off we went to check out quads... well, surprise, surprise... it turns out we need 2... can’t have the wife riding behind you all the time can ya???? So, we are now the proud owners of 2 brand new 2005 model Honda 250 Recon’s. ..... you should see the looks we get driving down the street... anyway a new rack, two sets of ramps and 2 new ATV’s later, we are now ready to hit the road for Baja... (I will say, that Marc got such a good deal on the quads that we could not have bought them used any cheaper). In the meantime, we got to see Jon and Carisa and Steve and girls for dinner and Jon (very generously) lent us his car, not once, but twice, while the rack was being built. Saved us a bunch of $$ not having to rent. We also got to spend some quality time with Nancy and Jill (both of the Jonas women fed us - on two different occasions- YUM) and Marc got in a couple rides with Dave. We had a great evening at Dave and Cindy’s house for dinner.. and I had my first little cocktail party at the trailer when Nancy and Jill came over for drinks before we went out for dinner. Got a hair cut from Mycah... had a girls lunch with Carisa.. Oh, and Brent and Mary were in Phoenix for the weekend too and we got to sneak off for lunch with them one afternoon ... we also went to a Coyote’s hockey game. It was fun, it was blanket night, so we have two fuzzy Coyote logo blankets... they beat the crap out of the Hurricanes. So, as you can tell, it was a very busy week... we dropped a bunch of stuff off at the storage unit and bought all our last minute stuff that we cannot live without in Baja. Finally we decided that if we did not get out of Phoenix soon, we would not be able to afford to go anywhere, let alone spend 3 or 4 months in Mexico. We have some friends that we met on the Alaska Highway (Sherry and George, we met them gold panning in the Yukon), they are currently up at Roosevelt Lake (about 100 miles north east of Phoenix) so we decided to head up there and hang out with them for a few days and detox (haven’t eaten that much restaurant food, not to mention the drinking since we were in LA last). So, off we go to Roosevelt. Oh, I forgot to mention that we have decided to head straight for Baja, probably San Felipe for a couple of weeks to try out our new toys and decide if we are going to mainland or sticking to the baja. That means we will not be stopping in LA first. We figured that with Christmas being so close, everyone would be super busy... and we really want to see everyone, so we are going to wait until after the Mexico portion of the trip to head to LA. But, for anyone who is interested, we plan to be in San Felipe through New Years????? HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE....
