London Bridge--El Puente de Londres
My time in Arizona this visit is winding down. I have wondered about the London Bridge for awhile so I decided to see it. I read it was originally constructed in England in the 1820's and then reconstructed in Arizona in 1971. Well, it really is there in the western Arizona desert about a 3 and half hour drive from Scottsdale in an area relatively more barren than other places I've seen. But also about 30 miles outside of Lake Havasu City the pass through the mountains got very interesting and ran along the Colorado River. Real water is not something I see often in Arizona. But it was a strinkly beautiful emerald/blue river against brown mountains. There are little oasis of Palms too. And in the city itself London Bridge has been reconstructed over water too. My fantasy was it was just sitting there over sand. I arrived for a lighting celebration for Christmas. 17 people swam the river with the winner getting the honor of lighting the Bridge. It is unabashingly touristy and cheesy but I liked it.

Esta vez en Arizona va a terminar pronto. Ya que he estado pensando en el puente de Londres, lo visite en la Ciudad del Lago de Havasu. Habia leido que estuvo consturido en la decada de 1820 en Ingelaterra y reconstuido en Arizona en 1971. Y de verdad esta en oeste de Arizona, tres horas y media desde Scottsdale a traves paisaje muy yermo. Aproximadamente 30 milas de la ciudad, el paso en las monta~nas es muy interesante y esta a lado del rio de colorado. Rios con agua son raros en Arizona me parece. Normalmente hay solamente arena. En esta zona el rio azule es una belleza impotente contra las monta~nas marrones. Hay oasis de palmas tambien. Y en la ciudad el puente estaba reconstuido encima del rio tambien. Tenia una fatasia que el puente esta en un arroyo arido. Llege alli justo en tiempo para una celebracion de luces de navidad. 17 nadadores cruzaron el rio para determinar cual prenderia las luces.
